thanks kanefizz :) xx do you know what her gsd is crossed with?

cant think why they wouldnt with exception of watching the size difference. Whispa lives happily with Mia pomx. As previous discussions I keep them apart when I am out or at night and keep careful eye on them when they play or are generally about the house

I'm confused I thought you wanted a Schnauzer? Are they known as a Terrier elsewhere outside of the UK then, as I thought they were a utility breed? Maybe i'm being thick here? :-)

Still think you meant to say utility.. hehe

Perhaps not so wide of the mark, according to one of my dog books Schnauzers are/were a type of Pinscher which are considered to be the German equivalent of terriers, same job of work and attitude, etc. Though of course, the book could well be wrong! :)

Your GSDs are used to having smaller dogs around though, aren't they?  Don't you have a Shih-Tzu and a Springer Spaniel as well? Or am I mixing you up with someone else?

we did shaynlola we lost our springerover 2years ago so only my oldst gsd knew her they were best friends , the shih tzu was my mums we took her on for her for awhile when she was ill but shes back with her now :-) my girls were only young when we had her and to be fare it wasnt for that long ,xx

Not a particularly serious book, just a dog breeds one, by Bruce Fogle... I have others (in storage at the mo) better ones where I do remember reading that the German pinscher breeds are very similar to our British terriers.

Purely as a matter of interest after having sheps  and a springer what made you decide on mini schnauzer ?
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 11.12.10 22:52 UTC
Mini and standard schnauzers are utility, giant for some reason which I would LOVE to understand are working. I think minis at least are a little like terriers tbh, I don't know any of the other two types.
- By suejaw Date 12.12.10 06:41 UTC
Though I do have to say that Miniatures and Standards do often display the tenacity of a terrier ;-).

The Giants from what i've seen are very calm and laid back - total opposite of their smaller family members.

Ive always loved them furriefriends ,the mini i thought would be better because of room lol we have 4 sheps so wouldnt want anougher big dog...3 out of the 4 are outside most of the day (thier choise) but all sleep in the house at night ,BUT lol if i get the pup ive wanted for along time with our girl thats in whelp then il be keeping a pup from this litter ,(wanting same has your shep but a girl :) )so just doing all my home work on the breed 1st ,i dont want to jump in and it not work ( sheps and mini schn ) xx

I can see why you might think about a little one. I have found it really different having a toy breed and would happily have another some time. Its the lap dog thing she is cuddly in a different way to Whispa and being pocket sized you can take her places far easier than the sheps or maybe its the places I go. She is still very much a dog though just watch her eat a chicken drumstick !
Saw a mini sch yesterday going on to the train nice little fellow.
Good luck with you next litter and I hope you get your solid black girly
