Hi
One day a week we have a (v responsible) dog walker as I have to be out all day, for that one day.
One of ours is in season at the moment and so she is missing out on her walk and staying behind.
Day 21 of her season is the last dog walk before the Xmas break. Do you think it is too risky to let her go? She is the dog we want to breed on her next season, in July.
The dog walkers don't take any entire dogs over 1 yr old. But I guess they might run across other walkers when out and about, and they may walk entire males under 1 yr.
Thanks.
One of my boys mated a bitch on day 22 and she had pups ...

One of mine mated and tied on day 23 of her last season -thankfully it was with one of my neutered dogs! But I had thought she was well and truly finished -would not have allowed her near even the neutered boy otherwise (due to the risk of injury should there be an unsupervised tie).

Wise decision!!!! One of my girls mated on day 28, and the vet said there was no need for the injection, as she couldn't be pregnant.
Durrrrr! Wrong! :-) :-)

We had one that we thought had definitely come out of season, allowed her with the boys day 26, she must have been mated a few days later as she had a litter of three 9 weeks later.

I had a litter, bitch mated day 26, vet said no need for injection as he was certain she wouldn't be pregnant........we ended up with 7 big healthy pups!
ive mated one of mine/tested and was ready day 28 of season
