Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / dont think this is right?

i am not very knowledgeable about breeding but i thought i would tell this tale, adn see what you all think.

a woman who lives near me, (apart from collecting and then getting bored with adn 'diposing of' at least 2 dogs in the last 5 months) has just sold the last of a litter of, as her advert states ' KC registered Golden Retrievers'. however, i know that the bitch is in fact a lab/golden cross, not a pedigree Golden at all. ( i know the person that bred her, accidentally, but wishes to take no part in this at all, dunno why).
also, the bitch in question is no more than 18months old, in fact the woman told me herself that it was the bitches second ever season when she had her mated.
in the last 2 weeks two people have brought pups back, and then they have mysteriously dissappeared. (like overnight, gone.)
i am pretty sure this is wrong, and i dont like the woman, the way she treats her dogs or her attitude (like they are toys). The poor bitch im talking about, only got walked when she was in pup, now they are born adn gone, seh is back to being kept ina 10 ft square garden again, no walks, no games, just being shouted at a lot.
also, i am quite frightened about what might happen, although the bitch is a very sweet natured dog, i have frequently seen it alone with very small toddlers in the garden, putting up with being prodded and poked and generally annoyed. i wouldnt like to see this dog bite a child, but i have a feeling one day it will happen. arghhh, some people make me so so sick!

Contact trading standards about the false KC registered pups.

You could also try the RSPCA, (for what it's worth), and see if they are interested in the bitch's living conditions.

Providing the bitch has access to water, food and shelter then RSPCa is very limited in what action it can take.

tell the rspca theyve got bands on their tales---=that might do it

Surely if they are not pedigree pups then the kennel club should
be notified. I dont think the r.s.p.c.a will get involved with this.
It is not fair on the new owners if they think they are getting
a pedigree dog and its not.

from what i have been hearing, the woman sold the pups telling the buyers that they would have to register them them selves.
the two returned tried to and couldnt so brought pups back. (source of info, 29 yo sons girlfriend). wont talk to her myself, cant stand her. dont want to start a war, she doesnt exactly live near me, more like next door!!!
i guess she was banking on the fact taht the new owners wouldnt bother trying to register the pups!

You poor thing- it must be a dilema for you. But the most important thing is to try and sort out the dog in question.

Have you tried enviromentel health some times they would intervene if place not large enough for pups. Also It may be worth trying RSPCA as Fiona says it is limited but if you manage to get them to visit it may be they will hand the dog over, this has happened in my area a bit people just sign them over as they have had enough, but it takes a visit.

I have lived next to people who did not care for a dog they had and it had pups its awful, but in the end this dog was taken to a vet as it had its insides hanging out after the birth (can't remember the condition) but she had to wait 3 days!!

I also think that you should know that any local authority will not tell that it was you who complained, so that may help you to ring round a bit.

Try speaking to the dog warden - some are very good - some aren't, still you may be lucky, if the warden calls the RSPCA there is more chance of them coming. But they will probable only offer advice, still that is better than nothing. Jackie

I agree, try everyone you can that has been suggested but you will have to keep the pressure up and become a nuisance otherwise they will not bother too much. Do this for the dogs sake and your own peace of mind. I know it is awkward when it is a neighbour but all calls should be confidential. However if you do not give them your details they invariably will not take you your concern or your calls seriously. Poor dog, and poor little pups. Why do people do this, is it because they think they can make a few pounds for themselves? The dog would be better out of there. If you are certain that the dog is a Golden Retriever/Lab cross and you have a copy of the ad or can speak to any of the puppy purchasers then they or you should contact Trading Standards particulary if the pups were advertsied as KC reg and Golden Retievers.

Too late.
it all kicked off this morning, watched from my landing window, kid pulling dogs ears, two westies underfoot, no adults (child around 3) dog giving out leave me alone vibes, head down adn sideways, sidling off. kid followed it.
missed the next bit as i was coming down stairs, but there was a snarl and a scream. went back to look and woman was out there belting the dog with its lead.
i asked the girlfriend this evening asn she said the little girl wasnt hurt, just scared, (no contact with skin, just a warning snap).
Dog?
Gone.

where i dunno, she doesnt know either. might find out some time. im so angry, poor dog. now that she is not cute and isnt making them any money, shes out.
i give it around 2 months before she gets another dog.

arghhhhhhhhhhhhhh

IFid have seen the dog getting hit with a lead there would be no stopping me i would have been staight over the fence. my next door neighbour got a puppy 2 years ago it was left out all day shouted at for weeing in the house and was forever getting out. one morning when returning from work 630 am it was sat on the front door step had been out wandering all night picked it up took it to a friends house where it lived happily ever after. later that day he asked if id seen it i just said no why had it dissapeared ?

Dogs,
Unfortunately that's the sort of thing that happens when people breed dogs for money and don't care who buys them.:(

I agree Dot wholeheartedly .
No need for me to add to Dots words so agree is all is necessary
just for the new posters who think we are all parrots
If we ignored it some would think it was just one reply and one opinion

tell the rspca that you have seen her hit her dog with a stick, i once did this and the dog was taken from the owners

why do people have dogs if they are not going to look after them it makes me sick

Also try environmenatal health people, if she is breeding commercially they need to be informed and so does the tax man, I'm sure the inland revenue would like to know, and if she is in receipt of state benefits, they need to be told about her extra income.
These sorts of people don't like hassle with authorities like the tax and benefits people, or the enviromental health people, Another poster suggested the trading standards, if you see her advertise another litter you can inform the trading standards and they will investigate, plus the paper she is advertising in will then be reluctant to take further adverts from her.
