I only managed to catch the end of it. One thing which jumped out at me was that Prof Sheila Crispin said that although the panel had been selected there were lots of 'volunteer' helpers advising the panel... so who are these volunteers? Should Champdogs members be offering advice as they are dog breeders because I bet we all know somebody who is on this panel?

I thought Sheila Crispin sounded very sensible -very much for the idea of Puppy Contracts and tracing dogs to source, also pro-registries as a way of tracing problems with breeders or within breeds. She also commented on the fad for crossbreeding, emphasising that it doesn't necessarily reduce health issues but can in some cases lead to double the problems.

You and Yours - just searched to see if anyone mentioned it because I am listening to it again - I was driving when I first heard it - was also looking for link where HG mentioned that the man (Wally Conran) who started it now regrets starting the trend - he speaks on this programme - this is an excellent piece.  Everything that has been discussed on here has been expressed very clearly by Professor Sheila Crispin - of the Advisory Council of welfare issues of dog breeding.
