I have been asked to groom 2 flatcoats ready for a show in December. Have never done this before and was just wondering exactly what I need to trim / leave etc?

well judging by the guy who seems to tie up his fcs every week next to my studio, first you need to swear and shout at them, then get scissors and cut randomly at any bit thats staying still long enough to not miss, then a couple of wacks with the brush, then leave the hair youve trimmed all over the floor.....and bobs yer Uncle! :( :(

sadly yes. Oh and then you have to tie one to a door handle(so it can only sit or stand as its too tightly tied to lie down) and then take the other one in the ring and leave the tied up one barking and annoying everyone nearby. :(

It depends on whether they are trimmed British or Scandinavian style.

The British style seems to be ears, feet, tip of tail and the neck if it get too bushy.

The Scandinavians trim the neck more, will trim lightly down the whole of the tail and the same with the legs.

what happens if one day its a judge that likes the scandinavian way and the next day you are going to a show where the judge likes the 'old' brittish way!
