as title sent OH for some pilchards but typically he came back with mackerel in tomato sauce. Can the pup have them or should I send him back with then I swear if I sent him to buy a tomato he would come back with an elephant he is useless.

Puppy will love them, as with any new food start with a small amount and build up.

When you say puppies how old are talking about ?

Yes tinned mackerel either in oil or tomatoes is fine for an older dog once or twice a week.

Dogs can eat ANY fish as long as it agrees with them. I regularly give mine a tin of pilchards/mackeral/sardines in tomato sauce once a week.  I also give them fresh raw fish, however if you are thinking of trying this beware.......... when dogs first start they MAY decide to reacquaint themselves with it several hours after consuming, usually, IME, in your car or on your best rug!

Some dogs never manage raw fish, but labradors manage most things IME, edible or otherwise!
