hi
was wondering how many times most people walk their dogs? mine are usually walked twice but since my new job, which involves 2 long days a week, the kids are only willing to walk once per day?
would this be ok? it is only twice a week, the other 5 days i walk twice obv. they are lazy schnauzers that dont do much running very often

mine have always had one walk a day with any extra's as and when, so some days several, but always at least one.

I walk the Labs twice a day, and the Vizsla 3 times.

depends on how long you actually exercise them for each breed needs are different  ..ie:
1x2 hr walk

2x1hr walks

2x half hr walks

1x1 hr walk

I usually walk twice a day plus run outs in the garden, but sometimes when the weather is at it's worst they are happy to have one walk a day and run outs into the garden.

Depends also exactly what you mean by a walk :) :) For my dogs, a lead walk is not giving them much exercise. They need to be off lead and chasing a ball (they tend not to just run without a need). Now they are twelve and eight, they get two long and energetic ball games a day in our very large garden and a lunchtime lead walk of a couple of miles around the village. They also spend a lot of the day just out in the garden with us where they are active. This keeps them far fitter than just lead walks or the odd run in the park :) :) :)

Obviously, different breeds/ages have different needs :)

Once a day here with my girls. During the nice weather they will also get playtime in the garden chasing tennis balls around the gardens and driveway.

My girls normally only have one long run in the forest every day.  Obviously younger ones go for shorter more often walks until they are able to go with the pack.  Occasionally get another especially during nice summer evenings or I need to walk to post box etc and decide to treat them to a lead walk for a change.

I think they adjust to you situation well, given a little time maybe.

Ideally for most breeds 2 x walks a day is the norm, along with garden breaks.

My girl is used to 2 x 90+ minutes off lead walks and she loves a good sprint. But when the weather is atrocious like that horrendous rain we had last week I will just do one of those and she is quite happy with that so I'm sure your Schnauzers will be fine coping for two days a week. :-)

I usually walk mine twice per day but sometimes it is only once.  At the weekend I usually take him for one longer walk per day where he isn't bolting around the whole time, more trotting, somewhere like along the canal or through the woods.
He is a dog that doesn't bounce off the walls if he doesn't get a walk (for instance on monday when I was too ill) so if yours are like this they should adapt fine.

I have two mini schnauzers.  I have to walk twice a day because the eldest (boy) doesn't go to the loo in our garden.  Rain and shine we take him out so we take the younger one too.  He can be quite particular where he goes so the length of walks vary a bit, but usually 40 mins am (from 7 as I work) and about an hour pm (4 ish).  However he does dislike the rain.  Then he produces noticeably faster than normal so he can get back in again.
