What - if any - additional food do you give to your pregnant bitches ? mine will be fed on Royal Canin HT 42D - But I wonder if you add any tasty treats ( no more than 10% I have heard ? ) also,what quantities after birth compared to pregnancy ?

Nothing extra until the 6th week, though I switch to a  puppy/performance food when pregnancy confirmed.

By whelping they are on half as much as normal.

From whelping they are fed ad lib, and this usually works out very quickly (within the first week) with mine to around 4 times normal rations if they have an average size litter of 5+ pups.

Thanks Brainless - can I confirm - is it 4 times as much as during pregnancy? or 4 times as much as before heat etc - this is where I am getting confused - I'm a bit dumb sometimes ! lol

maintenance rations, in other words what the non pregnant bitch eats.  Of course a very large litter she may need more and a small litter less and you play it by ear using condition as a guide.
