I am need to find a diet for a dog with von Willebrand's (haemophilia). I like to feed raw meat but this dog cannot have bone owing to risk of cutting his gums. I am concerned that without bones he has no exercise for teeth and jaws. Years ago we used to feed tough dehydrated meat -does anyone know of a UK source of dried, RAW meat from organic, free range animals please?
Also does anyone have any experience of living with von Willebrand's that they can share? My first major problem is that this dog was intended as my Assistance Dog but cannot qualify as he can't be castrated and the vet feels an implant would cause bleeding under the skin.

These offer a lot different things that your dog could possibly eat.

They're not the cheapest but it is good and natural quality, it contains no salt or preservatives.  Some in the supermarket have salt (the most popular brand or PAH).

Mine don't always manage bones so I give them shredded hide sticks or things like Bonio.  Would your dog manage detastix.

Hope it offers some help as i don't know much about the condition.

Could you make your own dehydrated meats.  You can pick up a good dehydrator fairly cheap and you could have a batch made in24/36 hrs.  Saves loads of money.
