my girl is on day 7 and my other girl is mounting her ,my boy was foaming at the mouth this morning when he went out and could smell her wee do you think she could be ready or is she just beeing a tart! i wasnt getting her blood tested till monday ,should i try them together today? hes only sired 2 litters so not that much experience !x
im jsut worried if he trys to early and she gets fed up with him and she does what she did last time and just keeps sitting down.
- By KaneFizz [gb] Date 30.10.10 17:21 UTC
Some bitches are attracted to the males from the first day but they dont actually let them mount them until they reach ovulation. My bitch was trying to get to the Staffordshire Bull Terrier next door from day 1. When I took my dog to the stud dog who had also only had 2 litters he was trying to mount her from the word go although it wasn't until three days later she let him.

Sorry if its wrong Im just telling you what I experienced with my bitch.

well now day 9 we tryed them day 7 she was having none of it and this morning still the same ,she is very swollen and her vulva is right up now plus not much blood its changed color ,taking her for bloods tomorrow morning and will get results in the evening ,but she not even flagging yet ,not sure whats happening with her shes so different to my other girls :(
- By white lilly [gb] Date 01.11.10 09:48 UTC
what day did you take her girl?
- By KaneFizz [gb] Date 02.11.10 07:49 UTC
Hi I took her on day 8 as like yours she was being a tart, she actually stayed with the stud dog for a week. Its weird because on the 9th day she wouldn't. let him near her but a few hours later on the 10th day she mated. The blood didn't change colour at all for her and in fact she was still bleeding for 2 weeks after.

ok reading today was 8.9 and said retest tomorrow but i carnt make it ,so going thursday will this be to late???? help! xx
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 02.11.10 19:12 UTC
When mine was on 8.9 I tested again the next day then the day after.  I'd save your money and leave a day.  Maybe mate her tomorrow, if she'll take it.  Could be 17/18 tomorrow if going to ovulate.  The day after should be double that.
- By SharonM Date 02.11.10 19:18 UTC
I had a litter born of 7 very strong healthy pups, mated day 23 of her season, one mating only
- By white lilly [gb] Date 02.11.10 20:49 UTC
"The day after should be double that. "

so would that mean shes ovulated and ready to mate or ive missed? xx
- By Brainless [gb] Date 02.11.10 21:31 UTC
They can't conceive until at least two days after ovulation, and the eggs remain viable for another couple of days.

yes i know that brainless :) x i was told at 15 she would be ready to mate? and if she went over that then ive missed? in the time frame rakkiangel was talking about or have i read it all wrong lol im not understanding the reading very well :( x
- By Brainless [gb] Date 02.11.10 22:03 UTC
No I think over 16 points to ovulation being imminent or recently occurred.  Some will stand for mating that soon, but not in my experience with my bitches,a dn the males have not wanted to mate them for several more days.

As you have them both under yoru roof play it by ear as to what they want to do, it will be down to them anyway, as you can only lead a horse to water..

SO VERY TRUE brainless xx...we will see what they do tomorrow and take her on thur for other test thats if they dont mate before we go lol.
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 03.11.10 08:53 UTC
Hi White lilly sorry was a little garbled, trying to do 3 things at once.  I was told as long as doubling she moving towards ovulating.  once it doubles to at least 18/19 , depending on your girls levels, she's either ovulating or just about to.  it worth checking that the level has reached at least 64 to know she's gone.  You won't miss it.  i was told to mate two days after (when she hit 19) then two days after that.  someone else told me to mate the day after ovulation as well if she will accept the boy.

The eggs not ready to fetilised before the two days, no matter how determined the little swimmers are.

Hope that helps.

Hi thanks reikiangel yes i understand now LOL taking her tomorrow ,shes shown i little interest in him today so looks like things are happening ,i think its going to be friday for their 1st mateing :) thats if shes doulbled today and is ovulateing :) xx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 04.11.10 09:08 UTC
should of gone this moring for bloods but i dont see the point now, my girl is standing for him :) hes getting on and off  just doing it half hearted so i know she will be ready later today or tomorrow ,has he foams at the mouth when the last girl he mated was ready he was on no messing about ,so if she did ovulate yesterday shes not reay till 2morrow. i will let you know how we get on :-) xx
- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 04.11.10 09:29 UTC
Fingers crossed.  sounds like you're getting there.  Agree save yyour money, the tests are expensive.  Its ok the vet saying have one every day, I don't see the point of that.

- By Reikiangel [gb] Date 05.11.10 15:55 UTC
I think this is mine is holding on to it lol.  She didn't like it at first then the biggest grin when they tied, made me laugh.

The next time she was a little tart, cuddling up and kissing him and he kissed back.

Its her first time isn't it/  Might be a little more willing tomorrow.  Now her flowers popped (would put a smily in but don't have any)> :-) so i'll borrow yours.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 06.11.10 15:16 UTC
yes it was her 1st time , thayve had another 22min tie today and she was the same ,i kept hold of our boy and hubby had to hold tight to her she wanted to run! ,and then when she couldnt get anywhere she tried to sit or lay down so it was a very long 22mins LOL ,

do you think we should just keep trying till 1 of them says no more ? we did progeserone on tues results being 8.9 and if doubled next day(wed) so she could of ovulated then or thur she tied fri and today ,was thinking od try her monday? or should i just see what their like tomorrow and monday?
xx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 07.11.10 11:30 UTC

- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 09.11.10 14:06 UTC
If she cried a little this time but hadn't on previous, that might be a sign she is starting to be less open ie going over (though I'm no expert). Sounds like you have given it every chance, fingers crossed now!
