Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Another raw feeding question.
- By Lacy Date 24.10.10 19:51 UTC
For some weeks now I have been given fresh off cuts of meat from a local farm, mainly beef with some lamb, bones consist of large marrow and ribs. Have continued to feed their regular food in the morning, then in the afternoon they get bones, the ribs with a little meat are eaten and the marrow bones chewed. Then depending on how much they have eaten, I adjust the amount of raw meat they get for their second meal. Due to the amount of fat that comes with the off cuts, I do cut some off.
This is my first attempt with raw meat and bones, should I be alternating with other meats chicken/tripe? I do want to keep feeding their regular (wet) food in some way, would it be best to use the meat as a topper for both meals or as I'm feeding now? Ideas, thoughts and experience please, many thanks Lacy

Hey Lacy

I can't help you with the raw issue, but you might need to watch you don't give your dogs too much protein a day, if you add meat to their existing food, on a regular basis. Unless you are substituing some of the meat for the wet.

My 1st dog once had really bad tummy upset, and the vet said I was feeding him too much protein.
