Hi all.  I'm currently away from home with Megan at the seaside.  She is 7wks pregnant and i'm just a bit concerned that we overdid it yesterday.  We took her out for the afternoon, but i took her carry bag with me too.  She walked for about 30mins, had a carry in her bag to rest, walked on the beach, had a rest in a coffee shop.  LAst night though, she was a bit sick (yellowy and frothy). She didn't eat her tea and she's not had any water either.  I'm worried that all the picking her up adn moving her about has done something.  She seems very tired this morning, her tail is wagging when i talk to her but she seems reluctant to get up. Normally she is full of the joys of spring, but i'm wondereing if that's because she's spent the night with me.  Normally she is really excited to see me because she sleeps downstairs.  Sorry i't so long and and so many typo's, just in a hurry to get some advice.

UPDATE: Megan has now eaten a really hearty breakfast (maybe she was just hungry) but she did poo afterwards and although initially it was solid it ended up coming out loose and a bit dark and gooey, she did eat much more wet food than usual though and a lot less dry, I feel this may have something to do with that? Any idea if this should be a cause for concern or is it just a natural part of the pregnancy? Sorry for all of the questions but this is mine and her first time!

i wouldnt worry ,does sound like its the wet food from what your saying, and maybe she eat somthing off the floor? that could of upset her abit, hope you all enjoy the rest of your stay there :) x

Update 2:  Megan has been to the beach today and pottered about.  We took fresh water and a some dry food and she had her lunch on the beach, on her fav blanket.  The weather was lovely and sunny and she slept on her blanket while the kids made sandcastles.  She seems to be fine now, so maybe i was worrying over nothing.

I would worry too!  With a breed that is notorious for only carrying whelps for 8 weeks, I would be paranoid that she would go into labour on holiday.

Thanks Jean, glad to know i'm not just being paranoid and it was a genuine worry.  We are home now and Megan has eaten her dry puppy food and settled down for bed.  No more loose poos and she is drinking well too.  So relieved to be back home though and now i will remain on permanent puppy watch.  Day 56 will be on Friday.

YAY!!  Friday is so close, but it seems forever when you get this close!  :-)

I have had several maidens go 8 weeks, so now I've told you that, your girl will probably go full term!  :-)

Just a thought, be ready for very loose poos when she gets close, as all my bitches have "emptied" themselves in preparation.  (I just put the bum end in the shower, and shampoo to make them more comfortable.)  Think your girl has panataloons like mine?

Once the loose poos start, I always estimate that labour will start in the next 24 hours.

Good Luck!  Be sure and let us know how things go.

Yes she does, i'm expecting a few quick showers, i contemplated getting her trimmed up but didn't know how it would grow back so i'm not going too.

I'll be on here the minute it starts, double and treble checking everything i do LOL ;-)
