can anyone please tell me at what age can a westie start to stud, i dout the dog could have done any harm as hes only 6 month old and he only has one testical any way, but he got hold of my little bitch this morning who is supposed to be in season in october and has a good stud dog lined up ready and waiting, so im a bit worried now because my bitch and this dog where playing and chasing each other all over the place, i dont think this little dog hold of my bitch because there was no sign of this if you know what i mean, but by the time id got to them, at the back of the field the little dog had his lip stick out, please tell me he is too young even if he had got my bitch, the owner of the dog was a older lady who walked with a stick she couldnt possibly chase them, my bitch isant even supposed to be in season untill next month so i presumed i was safe to let her off the lead, by she has started to take a real interest in the male dogs on walks, she defies me and runs off to them anyway, is it possible she may be in season now with no blood loss, because she is really interested in dogs and their bits, sorry to be so long winded, but can anyone please put my mind at rest and tell me it isant possible for a 6m0nths puppy to father puppys. thanks

It is possible in some instances, for a 6 month old dog to sire pups.

I think you should stop panicking :-) I think it is very unlikely that your bitch was mated, although you never know ;-) The first thing you must do is establish if your bitch is in season or not. There are drugs that the vet can give you to stop a pregnancy, so if your bitch is in season and has been mated the vet can intervene :-)

..... but if she is in season and has been mated than you cannot take her to the stud dog even (or especially if) your vet gives her the "morning after" injection this season. You would have to wait till next time.
