Hi guys

Ive got a new job and dont sure about the holidays.  We are always closed on a Monday so never work them:

In my contract it states

Public and Bank Holidays

10.1  You are entitled to all public and bank holidays applicable to the country in which your normal place of work is situated in addition to your basic Employer holiday entitlement and will be paid at normal basic salary for each public holiday.

10.2  If a public holiday falls within the dates of your basic Employer holiday entitlement you will be entitled to an additional day's holiday for each public holiday.

10.3  The Employer reserves the right to require you to work on a public or bank holiday, in return for which you shall be entitled to extra holiday equal to the period worked, to be taken as agreed with the Employer, provided that you are available for work on the working day prior to and the working day following  the public or bank holiday.

Does this mean I wont get any extra days for the bank holidays as I dont work mondays?

I would have thought that as you don't work Mondays your going to miss out on the extra days, not sure though someone will be along that will know soon I expect.

From my experience having not always worked Mondays  yep you miss out on bh I am afraid. I teach part only part time so in theory I miss out on paid days off if they fall on my normal unpaid days off if you see what I mean.

I feel like the title of a song " I hate mondays" lol for those of a certain age.

My experience is different, i went part-time this year, I work 3 days a week, I get given a certain amount of annual leave + 7 or 8 days bank holidays, I then take the bank holidays as holiday so if a bank holiday falls on my day off i get an extra days holiday ...... if that makes sense !

As I understood it if you work part time you are entitled to a pro rata amount of Bank holidays.

so say you work 20 hours out of a full time week of 40 hours you would get half the number of hours annual leave and half the bank holidays.

If you google UK holiday entitlements it will tell you on the .gov site.

In the NHS you are given the extra allowance pro rata.

i.e. if you only work 3 days you wont get a full bank holiday day but you may get 5.5 hours out of a 7 hour day. You should get the allowance back in some form but it may depend on how many hours you work.

Yes, I work part time & I get pro rata Normal Holiday but I work Mondays so not entirely sure but I think you are entitled to some Bank Holiday aswell. Agree with Brainless google government site.
