Hi there

Does anyone else think that feeding raw meat to a litter of puppies encourages the wild side out in them? I'm beginning to think so, as our lot seem to go completley over the top after eating a meal with some raw tripe added. They absolutley love it and is the only time the bowls get literally licked clean. We have had no upset tums at all, and it seems to be agreeing with them.

Has anyone else seen similar reactions when feeding pups raw meat? We don't have any fallouts over the food, but this litter is definitely more competitive than our last lot.

I just think its enjoyment of  a good meal rather than oh that boring stuff again

Lol, yes there is the enjoyment factor, and could also be that we have a "wild" bunch on our hands... um, do you think I should be warning the new owners (that behind the butter wouldn't melt faces lies a wolf in sheep's clothing)??

Hi - I'm with furryfriends on the enjoyment factor :)

My pups had their first raw meat at three weeks and were eating chicken wings by 4 weeks.  I also gave some puppy kibble of a couple of different brands so that new owners who I couldn't be sure would stick with an RMB type diet had pups which were used to varied food types, preparations and ingredients.

Fresh meat was always their preference though and no, from my experience, feeding any type of fresh food raw or cooked doesn't bring out the 'wild side' :)

Yep me too...it's definitely enjoyment :)

I do think that Raw Fed babies from Raw Fed Mothers are more forward somehow...more "full of the joys of spring"....they grow steadily and well...no worrying growth spurts.

And with utter respect for the little canivores that they are.....they may not be a "Wolf in sheep's clothing"...but they are most definitely a Wolf in Dog's clothing :)

And not one of my gang has turned into a blood-thirsty predator...they are all even-tempered and gentle natured....I can't stop them "eyeing" the cats but I do trust them not to hunt them down and eat them for dinner :)

3 litters weaned on raw, they love it! and, like Teri, added puppy kibble in case for those who didn't want to feed raw but I think most of them, especially this last litter, have given it a try.

Raw finely minced tripe definitley "turns a litter on"! When the dam has gone out for five minutes I scatter a little in the bed when they are too young to eat out of a dish. I never feed any milky foods as pups go straight onto meat and homecooked rice. Never any stomach upsets, loose toilets or smelly litters of pups.
