Hi there i was wondering how long you keep your bitch and puppies away from your other dogs? My bitch and pups are upstairs in my bedroom with me, pups are a week now. I just wondered when it would be safe to move them downstairs into my livingroom (within a puppy pen!!) but my other dogs will be roaming around?

Whenever the bitch is happy for the other dogs to be near. I've found that's usually when the puppies' eyes are open and they're starting to become mobile.
ive only had 2 litters in my bedroom had smaller breed at that time...i brought them down stairs at 3weeks old ,when their eyes are open and walking around and eating on thier own ,mum was fine with this ,and was very happy to spend more time with her friends....now my large breed are downstairs in my living room from whelping to going ,we keep other dogs out till mum lets us know she wants to show them off :) our last litter we had 5months ago ,pups were only a week old and she couldnt wait for 1 of our other girls to come and see her babies , so i think all are different ,let your girl tell you when shes ready ,x

Agree once eyes are open or around two weeks the bitch will tolerate the others near, but not in with her pups.
This is when mine go in the kitchen with the rest of the gang in and out.

I'm guided by my girls they know when the best time is for the others to say hello to pups.
I left it until about 3 weeks last time, it's difficult because she doesn't like being apart from the others now but i'm worried it is too soon to have them downstair incase she is too protective! They r 9 days old but she is torn between the two, i dont want her to neglect the pups but she will only stay and feed them when i make her and then wants down to see her friends!
If she wants to be with her friends then I would think it is fine for her in the puppy panels. That way she is with them but they can't get to the pups.
