Does anyone know anything about Bengals? We're being told by a client the breed is so specialised they should never be vaccinated at all, and yet we can't find anything that bears that out - and even the Bengal Cat Club says that kittens should be fully vaccinated!

Have known several breeders and they have always vaccinated, have never heard of any ill effects.

We get 5 that come into our boarding cattery and all are vaccinated , but have never shown any side effects or illness. All are completely loony though! ;)

If they couldn't be vaccinated, they couldn't ever be shown! You can't get into a show without producing the cat's vaccination card.

We're the same as Sugar, we have Bengals to board with us and we dont accept any without vaccinations.  The ones we have too seem to be very skitish.

Blimey, would never think of Bengals as skittish. Guess as with dogs, perhaps there is a breeder locally who doesn't have great temperaments, so that's what you tend to see?

I always had an inkling that one day I would like a Bengal. But, I have a friend that is in to cats, she said they tend to be loopy, so, I may just go for a nice moggy....

They're lovely and certainly lively - quite dog like, really. I have always had a hankering for a snow marble boy, keep having to remind myself that I like the idea of having a cat better than the reality!

Thanks everyone! I'll pass on the information. I doubt we'll convince the owner though!

try this info... even big cats are vaccinated against cat diseases. having wild blood does not defend them against common cat diseases

If you like dogs - you will love Bengals :) They are exceptionally sociable and love being part of the "doggy pack". They are ferocious hunters so be aware of that fact. Of course, many people keep their pedigree cats indoors but I don't agree with that personally. My Bengal loves being outdoors and particularly likes the game of "hide in the bushes and ambush the dogs as they walk past" game.

They are such amazing fun and completely different from all the moggys I have ever had. One HUGE difference is his love of water. ALWAYS lock the bathroom door when having a bath as he will jump right in beside you!! Bengals love water! He also plays fetch which he loves and comes on walks with the dogs regularly. They are really an amazing breed of cat :)

And yes, he is vaccinated - no idea where that person is getting their info from!
