Topic Dog Boards / General / Grrr.... Why do some people get dogs?
- By Polly [gb] Date 21.09.10 17:49 UTC
While at work this afternoon I was told about a woman who lives in my area, lots of money and either no brain or just plain cruel.

She bought what the painter thinks was a spaniel, (his description being red and white with long ears). She decided to buy some sheep to roam the grounds of her manor house and the young dog chased them. So she bought an electric collar and every time he did not return to her immediately he would be zapped by the collar, when he did get to her having been zapped by the collar she would then hit him very hard. Poor Dog. Eventually he started to snap and bite back and so she said he was vicious and had him put down.

In the last week or so she has apparently been out and bought a new puppy it is only just about 8 to 12 weeks of age. already she has the electric collar on it and as the painter said as soon as it hesitates to return it is zapped then hit when it gets back to her. Please if any of you know of a spaniel or spaniel type dog sold in the Oxfordshire / Buckinghamshire area get them to check on their puppies. (The painter has no idea about breeds he thought my flatcoat was a liver coloured spaniel).

I would have thought that this type of treatment would come under the Animal Welfare Act, but people I have asked says it does not as how a person trains their puppies is not a welfare issue and electric collars are legal. Perhaps it is time people had to attend some sort of training before they got a dog.....

As you say clearly stupid, teach a dog that it is painful to return to you and do it for long enough and the dog will start to protect its self.

RSPCA won't do anything in my area, they weren't interested when my daughter went to a puppy farm and saw dead puppies in the same shed as live puppies, and in conditions which defied belief. My son-in-law (a vet) took photos of the puppy she 'rescued' from there and even offered to go to court as a witness for the RSPCA.

Who is Adam?

A sadist who posts on here reccommending using electric shocks to train dogs.

Oooh, I´d love to try it on him, but maybe not round his next - perhaps his man-bits would be more appropriate!
