Is anyone else having a problem with trying to make an entry.

I set up an account for some new puppy owners and tried to enter, kept clicking on the press here to complete button and it would take me back to the log-in page or to the list of shows.

I then tried to make my own entries (trying to get in before they put an extra £2 on the entry fees for the last week), same thing, it doesn't go through to the make a payment screens!!!  Grr ;(  Wish I had picked up a physical schedule, amy just print off entry form and post it.
- By suejaw Date 12.09.10 17:35 UTC
Going to try shortly to enter now you mention they are going to be adding and extra £2 to it for later entries.. That is shameful.. I'd be concerned about keep on trying Brainless, sometimes there is a glitch and they charge you over and over each time you do it. Have you checked your emails to make sure?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 12.09.10 17:38 UTC
No emails it never gets past the classes I have chosen etc.  When I get back in and click to enter that dog it remembers which boxes i clicked for the classes.  Tried unchecking and checking them again before continuing to second dog same thing and then click to complete and it takes you back to the start.  It never gets as far a sthe payment screen.
- By suejaw Date 12.09.10 17:45 UTC
??? I've just done it and gone all the way through. Have you come out of it completely(log off) and tried it again?

When does the cost go up? Can you wait until tomorrow to call them to find out what is going on if it doesn't correct itself?
- By Sarah Date 12.09.10 18:02 UTC
I have just done it no probs, thanks for the headsup on the price change
- By Brainless [gb] Date 12.09.10 18:24 UTC
It's working fine now, for those who want to get in before the increase in price it's before midnight Monday.
- By Keesy8 [gb] Date 13.09.10 07:26 UTC
Worked fine yesterday for me, didnt know about the price hike though so glad I did it even if it is only for one dog.
- By harkback Date 13.09.10 13:22 UTC
You cannot use their online entry from a bookmarked page.  You have to go into the site from scratch then access the online entry portal each time otherwise it will not take you to the secure payment section.
- By sunshine [gb] Date 14.09.10 08:30 UTC
Managed ok yesterday but one of my elegible classes was missing, had to book the girls in higher classes tahn wanted to.  Lets see if they charge me for altering it.
- By harkback Date 14.09.10 09:42 UTC
They probably will charge you even though if a class was missing on the online system but in the printed catalogue it is clearly THEIR fault.  Had a similar instance last year, they told me to go ahead and enter online then phone in to change it.  When I did they then charged me £7 each dog for the trouble - SHARKS!!!

>You cannot use their online entry from a bookmarked page

I didn't I went from their list of shows clicking the enter on-line box, and for the new puppy owners straight from registering to trying to enter.

Stupid pillock I am!! I was aware of the increase in price, had filled out my details earlier but did not go through to pay and then forgot until today!! Now I am paying extra grrr. That'll teach me to do it all at the one time!!! I was on doing another entry and just filed in the details at the same time and told myself to remember to go back and pay at a later date!!!! How stupid!!!!!!

Nah I don't worry about the winning too much unless an awful dog wins.  I have too many friends who I hope will do well so that means I can't win can I.

They are only running eye testing for the dogs ;)

As it is the club Open show, I have entered them all (5 bitches from 4 generations) from almost 13 year old (who only goes to club shows now) to the almost 11 year old who still wins RCC's.

Then there is Lexi just 4 months off a litter who has reached Veteran status. Her young 2year old  champion daughter, and her normally unshown older daughter of nearly 4 (who is being eye tested too).

Only have a problem with one class as I have two veterans over 10, so will find a nice young person at the show to show Kizi (she could go in on her own and show, she is such and old hand).

:D Nope I fall out of bed drag a comb through hair, teeth, gargle, pull on jeans and a top and am out the door.  I could take just 15 minutes, but need to allow another 15 to wake the OH.  Your right though most shows are 2.5hours away so will be up pretty early on Saturday to get to the venue for 9am.

Main reason for getting out the house quickly is no mater how I pretend they know it's a show day and all start barking, do I have to chuck the ones going to the show in the car and leave so the ones remaining behind shut up as soon as they hear front door close.

I am lucky I chose a breed that's pretty much wash and wear, apart from a bath if actually dirty (living in a city with pavements two or three times a year is enough) then all that needs doing is to comb and brush their coats, no trimming, no styling, no stripping.

So they get a good coming and brush the night before, chucked into the car, then at the show before going in wet wipes for the legs if it is muddy or wet, slicker brush the coat to pick up stray loose hairs and in we go.

Unless their moulting their weekly grooming is about 10 minutes (all of them, not each), no different to the GSD's (unless you have long coats).

Hey there

What's this, you, writing to me, they don't allow that kind of thing ya know!

> I fall out of bed drag a comb through hair, teeth, gargle, pull on jeans and a top and am out the door.I could take just 15 minutes

I meant really early on Sat morn. I thought it would take you hours to get half decent. (lexi, I'm running out of legs to pull, borrow me a leg).lol

I was thinking, possibly, may be, unsure - sometime in the future about going to a dog show (spectator). Just to see what all the fuss is about! But before I make possibly the worst decision of my life :) I would need a few very important questions answered if you had a mo and you don't mind. Here goes -

1 Would they allow entrance to people like myself - drop dead gorgeous, witty, intelligent (questionable), poor.

2 Are there any freaky dogs on show - like with 2 heads 'n stuff - interesting.

3 Is it just normal people that go - cos this would be really boring.

and most importantly of all

4 Would it be appropriate for me to stand at the side of the ring, and imagine the judges wearing nothing at all,
   butt stark naked. :) :) :)

now for the serious bit - just 1 queston

1 If say I wanted to see someone groom a dog properly (so I can brush short haired Duke proper like) he's moulting at the mo and looks a bit of a mess, don't think I'm using the correct comb either, would this be possible?

Can I thank you madam this eve for your time..LOL Sian.

I seriously doubt that many people would consider those going to dog shows as normal but then 22 men being paid loads of money to chase a bag of air around, and others willing to pay money to watch, seems mad to me.

As for imagining the Judges naked, can't see the harm, there are few that I would want to imagine though, none as appealing to me  as hubby (who is watching over my shoulder and snorting with laughter).  Mostly I would prefer not to as I'd rather keep my breakfast down.

Spectators are normally welcome, and most doggy folk more than happy to talk dogs and show you how to groom etc.  There are stalls that do all the grooming stuff and happy to demonstrate too.

Not saying nothing ;) (pst, not always, but we are still newly weds, and he has to do something to get me off the computer).

A women after my own heart. There is no better reason to leave the pc alone than bedroom fun (or your preferred room). But since my bloke has just bolted leaving me with the dog then I'm stuck with the pc at the mo :(

Woke up with a stinker of a hangover, drowning me sorrows and all. Got to be up at 6 got a 40ft container to unload at work.

Decided against the dog show after all - sounds a little too exciting for me. :)
Have seen a better offer locally starting this weekend - Alcoholics and Nutcases Anonymous. :)

Note to self: don't log on to CD's whilst brain is intoxicated with poisonous substance, Danger - this can cause embarrasment to self and others.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 17.09.10 08:38 UTC
You could always come to the sports Connexion, Ryton on Dunsmore (near Coventry) in the morning (goes on all day) and watch how much of a flap I can get into trying to show five dogs with just 3 sets of show leads and collars (find I have lent or give the others away as they all used to have their own).

It's the breed Open show so more relaxed than a championship show.  You should get to meet about 70 grey curly tailed jobs with a passing resemblance to GSD in the head.  Some believe they are one of the GSD's ancestors.
- By Nova Date 17.09.10 09:55 UTC
Some believe they are one of the GSD's ancestors.

and some insist they are GSDs, grey ones.

Can second that winning at all costs is not something that Brainless goes in for, most (not all) Elkie people are happy to see a good dog win even if it has beaten yours.

New Show Manager tomorrow, hope all is going well for her I know what the day before a show is like - you know that, all things being equal, you have forgotten something but for the life of you you can't remember what.
- By Dukedog Date 17.09.10 16:36 UTC
