Six weeks and he'll be out in three!  He should get life as you say, he's ruined that poor couples life and I bet they'll never get over it.
- By tadog [gb] Date 07.09.10 14:03 UTC
dispicable, poor dog and poor owners. even though they should not have left the dog outside a shop, they did not deserve to have this happen. I hope this person gets from whoever what he deserves.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 07.09.10 14:18 UTC
My God is there a sudden rash of these evil b******s or is it just being publicised more. I feel sick thinking of that poor dog's last moments of life, look at that sweet old face. And the poor couple too! :-(
- By Whistler [gb] Date 07.09.10 14:27 UTC
As a BC owner I sobbed over this one I bet the old dog just went, he deserves castrating no excuse I dispair I really do. Run free Jess!!!
- By Samie [gb] Date 07.09.10 18:23 UTC
What a cruel .....! So annoyed!

The only punishment I think would be acceptable is (including ainimals) a life for a life! What the hell could the dog have ever done to deserve this! And why did they take there dog to the supermarket? poor dog! I cant bare even leave my dogs in the garden unsupervised incase someone steals one!(not although my harvey would be able to e lifted over it lol!)

my heart does go out to poor jesses owners but its Jess I feel for!

BLESS HER

old people though.  and brought up in a different age where it would have been safe to leave a baby in a pram outside a shop let alone a dog.  I cannot imagine the pain and grief such elderly folk are going through as it sounds from the artical that she really was the focus of their life.

That's the advantage in having GSD's, if this scum tried to snatch my dog, he would only try it once, Duke would take his face clean off.....
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 07.09.10 19:44 UTC
I couldn't call the owners one bit.  We should be able to do this with our dogs and let's face it this is an extremely rare case.  Even leaving your dogs at home locked in the house doesn't keep them safe from scum like this and I should know sadly.
- By goldie [gb] Date 07.09.10 21:33 UTC
For what possible reason could he of had for doing that to an innocent dog...that meant no harm to anyone.
The poor old people must have been devastated.
She looked a very sweet dog.....so sad.

This is so tragic.  I don't know what to say that wouldn't get me banned from CD.

We had a dog the other week that had been apparrently owned by a gang.  My hubby work coleauge went to the shop near work to here a dog in pain, guess what breed, she then witnessed them all kicking the dog violently on the ground because it had lost a dog fight.  She called the police to report it and get the dog rescued, they had had several calls off witnesses already.  The police told her there's nothing they could do (I know).  They did get off their backsides though to let her know the dog had died, no consolation but at least the poor baby is no longer suffering and might get nice owners next time round.  she's still unable to speak about it without coming to tears.

To top it off, a few days after, it could have been the same scumbags, hubby's boss, came down from the upstairs asking how to rescue a dog.  They were dragging a pup down the street roughly and kicking it.  Did the police do anything NO!

That is so sad- I never leave my dogs unattended anywhere. If I can take them inside a shop I don't go... just never no...
- By nesstaffy [gb] Date 08.09.10 15:41 UTC
they should of hurled him 40ft to his death and leave him for three days that would be justice.
Sorry but that is disgusting what he did to jess and now she has gone what have that couple got , they could just give up as what is the point
Run free jess and wait for your mum and dad at the bridge

What kind of deprived, sorry background are these people from, to make them do such wicked things to innocents? Some may say I'm one of the same for having thoughts of letting Dukedog finish the job and feast on what was left of that sorry excuse for a human being. But these people are pure evil and will never change, they need exterminating. And I would be first in the queue to pull the trigger.

Surely under the Animal Welfare Act the police are required to act these days?  They are supposedly there to uphold the law     Otherwise what is the point of the act?     Or is it a case of they only act when they aren't scared of the scumbags?

Can't believe that a dogs life is only worth 6 weeks :(   If a thug can do that to a dog...   :(
- By suejaw Date 08.09.10 19:26 UTC
Here is another one which i've just seen in the paper

http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/3128390/Cruel-thug-hurls-puppy-by-lead.html

Words are really starting to fail me on these thugs.
- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 08.09.10 19:35 UTC
I have to say that I really believe that the sentence should fit the crime, but in this day and age when the sentences don't fit the crime of murder of a human being then a poor animal doesn't stand a chance of justice. I really hope that one day this man gets his just desserts. I know what I would like to see happen to him!!!!

Yes, I'm sure the police should have done something. It is illegal to cruelly beat a dog (can't recall which Act specifies this, but it's one of them).

Poor dog.

I just get so cross these days, the injustice is appalling, and thugs think they can do anything and get away with it, which is not good for the fabric of society as a whole.

Thanks for the link Sue, but look what breed is affected again.  Its unfair on these dogs to almost have an automatic traumatic existence.

I looked at the rescue sites that other week and it was just one Staffie after another.  so sad.

i know they're not the only breed to suffer as the original post shows, that poor dog, it hurts to thinks how it must have felt and feared.  i would be beside myself with grief.
- By suzieque [gb] Date 09.09.10 09:19 UTC
Don't think there is a sudden 'rush' of these vile thugs.  They've been out there developing for a long time under the liberal 'do gooders' who make excuse after excuse for bad behaviour and who seek to have no consequences, no deterrents and lenient, if any, penalties   imposed on mindless morons.

Let's hope there is some sort of 'justice' imposed from behind bars and this thug gets the thrashing of his life.  Sometimes that's the only way to teach violent bullies the error of their ways.  Maybe they'd think twice if they got the hiding of their lives.

> Can't believe that a dogs life is only worth 6 weeks

Am I missing something?  That's the second post to reference 6 weeks, but here's the quote in the article:
<Marshman, of Bradford, West Yorks, was jailed for 26 weeks.>

Am I missing something else where it says only 6?

(not that 26 would be enough either IMO)
- By Dill [gb] Date 09.09.10 17:54 UTC
You're right 26 weeks, my mistake.   But how long will he actually serve?

It's about time violent and cruel behaviour was given more of a penalty.   Once this sort of behaviour starts it's downhill after.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 09.09.10 20:09 UTC
Thank goodness for the passerby that time Sue, at least the dog now has a chance of a better life.
