Which are the best baths to buy for a pet dog, i tried doing it in our bath but it was to back breaking, they are springer spaniel size. I hope someone can help me.

Thanks for the reply, but we have a new bath and i wouldn't want to scratch it with a table sitting in the bath, so im not keen on that idea. Any other suggestions?

A piece of carpet or a rubber mat in the bottom would avoid that.   When I started grooming, I started indoors to test the response to my work.  I also had a new bath and I put a bit of foam backed carpet big enough to go up the side into my new bath.  I bathed clients' dogs in there for 3 months before I'd earned anough money to put a grooming parlour outside and my bath wasn't damaged. :)

Wouldn't the table in the bath with the carpet wobble? as i dont think the bottom of our bath would be wide enough to put a table in it.
My dogs are not keen in the bathing experience, a wobbley table might be to difficult for me to control a table & a largest dog.

What im really looking for is a cheap bath on a stand that i can put in the bathroom so i can use the hot & cold water taps, i dont want to wash them in the garden with a hose pipe.

It's reasonably easy to have a hot water tap fitted outside next to the cold water taps. I've got 2 "hosing stations" in the garden, one outside the kitchen (water pipe easily accessible through the wall as pipes to kitchen sink are there) and another outside the utility room. I just have hose attachments which then make a mixer and hey presto, outdoor shower. I also have a booster bath (http://www.petplanet.co.uk/product.asp?dept_id=94&pf_id=5856&co=fr), but you could equally just use a plastic table with some rubber matting on top. During the winter months I bring the booster bath into the utility room (attach a cheap shower attachment to the sink in there) and use it there, with the drainage hose poking out the door to go into the garden.

I use the household shower for my dogs rather than the bath. Large breed dog who fits easily into the shower cubicle :-)

Could you not use a baby bath for your dogs - not that expensive to buy and they are often given away on sites such as Freecycle.

Me too!  When I got too old and creaky to heave Collies about, I had a few changes made.  My old shower was past it's best, so I had a double one put in, nice and easy to walk a large dog into it.  I bought a shower seat (so I can sit and lean over them) and I asked the plumber to give me an extra length hose, so it's easy to rinse underneath the dogs.

I use the rubber bath mats for them to stand on, so they feel secure, and it is so much easier for me and my aging bones!

You teach them to shake on command and then get them to shake in the shower before they come out :-)

I know what you mean but durring the winter months it is the only way I can manage, and it does make me really clean out the bathroom! In the summer lift them on to the picnic table in the garden with a rubber mat and use a hose from the utility room mixer tap.

I'm lucky, hubby is a plumber and he turned my downstairs loo into a wet room.
Perfect for showering my two dirty dobies :)
