I'm not a native speaker of English.. I'm Russian... I would like to name my kennel of working dogs (springers & pointers) - "Rank field".. does this name  associate  with field-bred dogs?   what  associations can bring such a name of a kennel for a native speaker of English in tote and what about "Topfield" or "Range Field"?  Sorry, if my question is out of place..

Hi there
To me, rank has two main meanings. The first means "to put in order", but the second has a not so pleasant association. If you say something is "rank", it can mean that it is revolting, foul smelling. Perhaps not the association you would want! I'd be interested to see what others say.
The other two names would be safer :)

I agree Rank might not be good, but Topfield is nice.

Thing is anything fairly obvious may already be taken by Someone else.

If you go onto the kennel club website I believe you can use their name checking facility to check that a choice of name (which includes kennel name) does not conflict with someones existing kennel name.

You can also write down a list of choices and contact the kennel club and ask if they would check that they aren't already taken.

Unfortunately rank is often used in English slang to mean smelly or horrible. Range field doesn't really mean anything so I would go with Topfield :-)
