Still waiting on our Manchester critique

LOL think you may have to make a personal request for that one :-)

I though champ show judge had to write a critique. They want the entries.

All judges are supposed to write a critique but I have noticed that some don't and of those who don't many of them are the more experienced, to my way of thinking unforgivable, people pay good money for your opinion and you should do them the courtesy of giving it to them to the best of your ability.

It seems with my breed that its more rare to acctually get a critique published whether thats because the judges are lazy with us or the papers cant be bothered i do not know, i find it rather annoying as i subscribe to the paper and pay the same entry fee as every other breed so think we deserve to get even just a few published before the 4 week deadline, i was gobsmacked to see albert wights write up online only 3 days after judging us so it can be done.

There is no doubt that on the odd occasion it may be the papers or the post but most of the time it is the judges, we put it in our judges contracts and they still don't do it - trouble is you are so busy with other things that it is not really possible to contact the wayward judges and ask for them to do it because by then the 4 weeks are up and there seems little point.

it really does bug me, and its always the ones i want to read that never turn up. i get bored asking our club secatary about it and i bet she gets sick of listening to it.

Know the feeling Boody, you ask the secretary, they ask the judge and either they apologise but still do nothing or they say they have sent it and it has not been printed, sorry but the latter is very rare if it is in time so I agree it is the judge that is at fault.

The Kennel Club especially with champ shows if judges do not put in a critique they do not judge again at that level.

I am sure that the KC wish all judges to write a critique and believe that if it is reported to them that they have not they, the judges, will be written to but I have never seen a report of a judge being demoted for not writing a critique, fined may be but I can't bring an occasion when that has happened either - it is sad, but a fact, that the KC make rules they are not able to police or control.

Now hope to have a flood of posts telling me I am wrong and sighting occasions when judges have been demoted and/or fined.

our breed had a judge who didn't do a critique  after witholding cc in males couple of years ago , went on to award them again last year not sure whether they got fined or not .

I believe the vague C'net commentary was treated as a critique by the KC ... despite not offering a critique on the bitches.

Somewhat bizarrely, our Bath judge published a critique for males about a month ago but seems to have forgotten that they also judged the bitches? LOL

We have had an all rounder judge my breed now 3 times in 6 years.  Only once (this year) have they submitted a critique and it was an appalingly written one at that.  Showed a real lack of knowledge of the breed standard.  Apart from the fact it implied they had decided already on the bitch CC.  Has this judge been reprimanded by the KC?  No of course not.  Judges many breeds with regularity at a large % of UK Ch shows.

The KC unfortunatley dont check wether critiques have been supplied, however if reported to them, by a breed club or council they will pursue the matter and chase up the critique.

Our breed notes writer for OurDogs is including an update list on a monlthy basis of which shows haven't had critique's pubished, he doesn't mention judges names but you can easily find out by looking at the results for that show. It's prompted one judge to send his in 2 weeks ago from a show champ show in April.
