Topic Dog Boards / Showing / £5 for Stakes!
- By Gemma86 [gb] Date 10.08.10 10:47 UTC
I'm just doing my Belfast entries & was going to enter Asbo in the Junior stakes, Razzle & I are in YKC Stakes & Handling which was £3 each so just presumed the others stakes were all £3, but oh no they are £5!!!!
I'd happily go in at £3 but I just think £5 is pushing it, I understand societies are struggling but I am too!

I will see how he shows on the day & if he's being good I'll take him in the handling.............hmmmmm must practice shadowing with him! :)

Suppose it depends on how much of the money taken is returned as prize money for a entry of £1 I would expect a first prize of a £5 then £4, £3, £2 & £1 so for £5 I would expect the first prize to be £25 and then pro rata down the line. If this is so in Belfast all well and good otherwise I would expect to see the entry fees going to charity

The stakes are sponsored & the prize money donated by that sponsor........so no loss to the club!

Last year they had a total of both days of 38 entries in the Junior stakes that gives them an extra £190! Add on the champ, special beginners, puppy, veteran stakes thats a good bit extra for a ring thats empty all day (BIS ring usually)

Then I agree with you it is a liberty.

It's a shame stakes entry prices are getting higher, I really enjoy them but I've got to draw the line somewhere, especially when the chances are I might miss them!
I've stopped ordering catalouge's aswell, something I really enjoy doing at the end of the day is going through the catalouge after marking it up, looking at which dog won what, who they are out of & by etc etc

It would also be fine if you could make the class in time BUT it runs at the same time as judging.
