Does anyone here suffer from prickly heat if so what do you do ? I am tearing my self to pieces mainly after a shower. It dosnt appear to be the soaps and shampoos have tried showering without either  It is really prickly and shows no real rash any ideas.
Am about to buy some piriton anyway!

Hi, i get it every summer :-(
I tend to put natural yoghurt on it, wait for it to dry (and smell) then wash off.
Strange but it works :-)

You can get some tablets from the dr's.  works really well.  Try to keep cool by running your wrists or ancles (if possible) under cold water for a minite or two.  I used calomine lotion and lots of it, sat there with the bottle and cotton wool.

Have you got the shower too hot, try it as cool as you can.

Thankfully not had it for a long time.

I sometimes get that feeling after a shower when I put fresh socks on, my feet itch like crazy. I can only use the "Simple" brand of shower gel, nothing scented or fancy.

Have a look for mentholated talc (talc with menthol crystals in it)  it's what they use in tropical countries for prickly heat with or without the rash and it does work. Don't get it near your bits though! lol

If you do have the rash, then Tiger Balm works really well to stop the itching, same with hives or chilblains. If you go to an ethnic food shop you might be able to get something similar to Tiger Balm that has methyl salicylate in it (an aspirin derivative) which really does take the itch away but obviously not for use on people who have issues with aspirin.

If you can find it the Mentholated Talc then it is incredibly refreshing in hot weather, especially on hot tired feet. Wonderful getting a foot massage with that stuff.

use 'magicool' spray avail from chemists and sains, made for prickly heat. dont use piriton, prickly heat is because you sweat excessivley and sweat cant get away. my son had it on his feet on hols until he wore open sandals

I used to suffer terribly until I found out about Aloe Vera Gel - it's like a miracle! You need to rub it in the affected areas prior to exposure to the sunlight. I start using it as soon as the weather warms up and have never had another bout of prickly heat until I used a different brand of Aloe Vera Gel. The one I buy is this one here: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Aloe-Pura-Vera-Skin-100ml/dp/B0013G89OY

I cannot believe the difference this has made. I used to sit with my hands and feet in buckets of water as they itched so much.

Just remebered I have some aloe vera liquid I bought ages ago for the dogs its living in the fridge ! will give that ago. If I cant get this under control I shall take a visit to the doc. It seems funny that it only starts after a shower and mostly on my arms not the usually sweaty bits (oops sorry too much information) i assume its prickly heat.
Temperature of the water doesnt seem to matter , well tbh I havent tried cold or been in a swimming pool to see what happens.

I used to get it when we were on holiday in Florida - never anywhere else. I was at the back of my neck and I used talc on it to soothe it and keep it dry. I think it was possibly the humidity that made it worse as I've been in hotter places and was fine.

Not strange at all. My Polish Nan always put soured milk/buttermilk or cream on any rashes to soothe.
