Blue blooded bulldog puppies for sale, the ad in my local paper read followed by, perfect family dog, excellent with children and a fantastic guard dog both parents are american imports.

Out of my ignorance I googled the breed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alapaha_Blue_Blood_Bulldog

Then I thought why has someone bred from two imported bulldogs and having to advertise their puppies for sale in a local paper for £2,000 each and on a free ad internet site (although on here the puppies price is not stated) they obviously have not managed to find homes prior to mating or prior to advertising the litter for sale.  Therefore what is the point of importing these dogs in the first place?

So what will this breed bring to the public?  A new attraction for the kind that like a dog to look the part, just like the other bull breeds that have been overbred and suffered to meet the market for this type of dog often by those that should not be owning a dog in the first place.  Will it be mated with another bull breed to bring into the equation yet anther breed to suffer at the hands of those that wish to show their strength to others by the dog at the end of the leash?

Yetanother breed to suffer for monetary gain by the hands of ignorance and purchased by those that can pay by credit card and breed yet again for monetary gain.

Please tell me I am wrong as I know nothing of this breed at all but find it so sad when I read that yet another breed is likely to  banded in with all the other bull breeds with an uncertain future ahead.

I fear these puppies will get in the wrong hands for the wrong reasons - these days cost does not deter some people, credit is always available.

I do not think you can compare this breed with American Bulldogs if you look into the history and background, they were at one stage almost extinct. There are not many breeders here and there is a small gene pool. BUT and this is what concerns me I could find only about 6 official breeders of these dogs two in Wales two in Yorkshire and two elsewhere  but I guess there are many that have now purchased a puppy and like the advertiser that I started this thread with has bred from their bitch and in my view careless about advertising puppies for sale.  Had they sought out prospective puppy purchasers before mating their bitch they would not need to advertise in this manner.

I really am seriously concerned that puppies will get in the hands of novice owners these dogs are not for novice owners and due to the price tag too £1,500 to £2,000 per puppy is the asking price, some will think they are onto a good money earner to buy a bitch and breed from it.

This is a breed that needs  careful handing, knowledgable handling, early socialization, it is a dominant breed with guarding and protective instincts towards its owners.  In the wrong hands bred from indescriminately and mated with other various breeds it could become one to be very wary of.  Not the dogs fault but the fault of those that have introduced it to the UK without ensuring that breeding from and the selling of puppies are strictly controlled and do not reach the hands of idiots.

Pat in your first post you said that you know nothing about them now you are talking as if you are an expert. The are a designer dog bred in the USA by a family for about 3 generations, they are not a rare breed they are an established cross breed but it would seem the established status is very thin in this country even supposing those bred in the UK have any connection with those bred in the USA, more likely that the original crossing has been repeated..

Nova, I am no expert only writing what I am reading by looking on a site for this breed of dog. I did not know the breed before I read the advertisement for the puppies and became curious. Going back to my original post the puppies are bred from a USA import.
