Topic Dog Boards / General / int champions on papers

has anyone had an import pedigree where the international champions have just been changed to champions in the country of origin? just had my import ped from the kc and all the dams int. champs have been downgraded to cz champs!!! I feel a call to the KC coming on tomorrow!

My imports sire is an Am Ch and also Int Ch but the pedigree only has his Am title. His dam only has her home country title and she is also an Int Ch. I had a letter explaining why but can't find it but this link explains why they have done so http://www.thekennelclub.org.uk/cgi-bin/item.cgi?id=1790
I was told I can still put Int Ch when filling out the entry forms for both of her parents.

I hope you have better luck than I did when I imported my boy from Finland. All his parents' (and other relatives too, I think) titles were ignored, other than from their country of origin :(

They made a statement last year that they would no longer recognise Int champion title only country titles.

I had a big beef with them when they suddenly disenfranchised the hunting champions in my breed, saying they don;t recognise anything but show titles.

We argued there is no such thing as a Norwegian or Swedish champion, they were hunting champions and/or show champions, but they wouldn't be moved.  Makes a nonsense, as the show title can't be achieved without working qualifications and vie versa.

Also earlier pedigrees and registrations show the proper titles.

Well that's unfair. I guess you have to provide TWO pedigrees - the official KC one, and the correct one.
How does it work for other imported breeds? How about Field champions in gundogs?

I have never provided the KC pedigree, only my own which has all the proper info, and hip scores etc.

Out of interest, do you design your own pedigrees or use a professional service etc etc?

Just designed one in word and type in the names or cut and paste from earlier ones.

I haven't tried word but Print Artist which didn't turn out well so ended up buying some rather expensive ones which are rather time consuming... One of those things I keep meaning to get sorted to do an efficient job!

Thank you ;o)

I find my template works fine as long as you remember to take up the space your words take up/displace, so keeping it within the bounds of the page.

Even if you have to type it from scratch it beats having to write them all out by hand, as we used to, once you have done one you just change the fronts for each puppy.

Depends on the award .. for example in GSP's the KS or German Field Trial Ch is recognised by the KC but other awards such as the IKP or International Field Trail Ch is not.

I handwrote mine last time - was going to design or download some software, but got bored one day and as there were only 2 puppies, it wasn't hard to do 2 pedigrees. Even easier this time with a singleton that I hope to keep! I think 2 out of my 3 dogs came with handwritten pedigrees.

I used to do calligraphic handwritten ones as a service for people but it was hard work!
I don't have the right software on this computer but if I did, I'd offer a service if anyone would like, professionally typeset on Quark Xpress. Is there much demand for this kind of thing?

i do my own on www.puppytoes.com easy and has the facility to put the CH in red too!
