Every now and again I notice a wee spat when a poster (unfamiliar with the ways and etiquette of Discussion Forums and the World-'Wise'-Web ;-)) uses or over uses Upper case type in their posts.
Personally it doesn't
overly bother me enough to move me to take someone to task over it, but I do appreciate we have members with visual difficulties and also it can (if prolific) make a post quite difficult to read and also can make the tone of what the poster is trying to say easily open to being misconstrued (and the spat escalates!)
TYPING in CAPITALS = the word you have put in capitals is being ((SHOUTED!))
If you just want to emphasize or stress a word in your post then don't forget the grey 'Text' buttons on this forum at the top left of the box on the screen in which you are typing your post:
So to save blushes and falling out:
~A reminder how to add emphasis and/or add tone to your posts~1)To strongly stress or highlight you could use
b bold type - Highlight the word and then click the grey
b button found on the top left of your screen.
example: Double coated breeds must
never have wet towels placed over their coat in hot weather it would
inhibit the natural insulation property of the double coat.
2) To perhaps subtly stress or indicate tone maybe a little light hearted sarcasm ;-) or to quote you could use
i itallic type - highlight the word/sentence then click the grey
i button.
example: I
reaaaaaally love chocolate
3) To whisper or perhaps denote a sentence as 'an aside' or a cheeky comment you could use
tt tiny text - highlight the word and click the grey
tt button.
example: So hopefully everyone will be happy posters
[ducks the pigs wearing flying goggles currently circling her head...]4) If you want to quote someone else's post on your post and want to differentiate between their words and yours -
2 options:
click reply on their post highlight the words you want to quote then click the little [ " ] button you see bottom left of your Champdogs forum screen.
or
simply copy and paste the words then simply type a > at the begining of the sentence and a < at the end so
> this sentence looks like this < (<- if you don't leave the gaps)
>this sentence looks like this<
5) then there are all the other weird and wonderful ways of highlighting/stressing/differentiating your words...
I'm a fan of doing ((((this!))))) when I'm excited... but be warned this can potentially be as annoying to others as prolific CAPITALS! ;-)
What ever you do and however you do it and if ever you get 'told off' by other members rest assured you could never be as annoying as me with my *ø¤º°*¨`*:»Flowery, fancy pants way of posting!«:*¨`*°º¤ø* ;-)
Have fun out there :-)
