Anyone any suggestions to persuade the moles in our garden to go elsewhere. There are hills everywhere and the GSps are having a whale of a time trying to 'dig' them out. We will have no garden left at this rate.

HI Star
We have the same problem...we have a large paddock but its the flippin garden they dig up...we get glass and all sorts of rubbish coming up.And yes don't the dogs just love to play in the new soil, and pups are ditched by the time theyve had their dig and roll about in it.
But sorry we don't know what to do either...there are ways but I love animals and couldn't kill them.Although I think there is a device which emits a high frequency soun or something that they don't like, not to sure I just let them get on with it now. :)

Mole traps !!!
Just a few quid, set them yourself, get them out of Countrymans Weekly newspaper, one of the supplies adverts.
Good luck
Dawn.

How about sticking childrens windmills or garden rakes in the holes if you are in a windy area - they apparently don't like noise.

Milk bottles or tins on the ends of canes, stuck in the holes are supposed to work.
But if you really want to get rid of them either smoke them out or borrow a terrier ;-)

Terrier, Ferret, or cobra. Of course, that could be a bit over the top ;) ;) :D

ROTFL@Sara

Cobra, thats a rather *dodgy* lager isn't it ? :D
- By eoghania [de] Date 10.09.02 10:25 UTC
Not sure what a lager is other than a type of brewski --- but if you possibly mean that the cure is worse than the ailment, could well be so  ;)

thanks for the suggestions. Our moles obviously don't mind noise. 5 german pointers whizzing round is enough noise for anyone!!
Tried a trap but the mole kept burrowing round it. they are quite hard to set in the right place. has to be a main burrow and we have that many , whats a main one??

Our hunt terrier man swears by border terrier hair!!!! When he strips his terriers out he stuffs the hair into the mole tunnels & apparently they hate it & go elsewhere. Worth a try.
