Took both the furries to the vet today for a weigh in. Whispa was more for interest than anything he weighed in at 43kg no problem there he looks great.
Now comes the problem little Mia (not so little) has become rather portly since spaying and now weighs 3.8kg (eek) I have been trying to reduce her weight but we seem to be going the wrong way. Any suggestions please. She is raw feed and despite the kind vet nurses suggestion I will not change to a prescription diet. I have reduced her feed to 70g from 100g about 6months ago and she has about 2 hours free running about 3 times a week with whispa and then the other times  about 45mins on other days also off lead .
Family tell me she is not getting secret treats , must check up on that again.
Apart from adding cooked veg and reducing her bones/meat I am stuck. Any ideas ? atm she is like a child with adhd always on the go but i dont want her to suffer later.
Dad was a big chi about the same size as her although I do not know his weight and Mum a large pom/small spitz type so I dont expect her to be tiny but I do admit the old waist is disappearing
Help please ?

I have the same with one of my larger Chihuahua girls.  She had difficulty whelping her first litter a couple of years ago, and I had her spayed after pups left home.

Mine get fed twice a day, and, because I work, my sitter does one feed, and I do the other.  I weigh food out religiously, but suspected that he had stopped weighing, and was just guessing.  I forbid him to feed her at all.  I feed her myself, once a day, and even took her away with me, so I knew she could only eat what I gave her.   She has had no perceivable weight loss, and I feel really horrid about the small amount of food I'm giving her.

I even gave her extra exercise while away, and had her on 45gm wet food, and 6 gm of dry.  If you can find an answer, do let me know.

Now I feel abit better jeansw at least I am not alone. I was feeling like those people on the tv programme recently about fat pets. My furries have never before had this problem after owning animals all my adult life.
I intend to be religious about weighing her food and woe betide anyone who gives her titbits mind I am sure she could eat for England if I let her. Cant really increase her exercise much I dont think. Will let you know how we go.
