I have a 3 week old lab male pup mum only had 1 puppy in this litter which I know is very rare he is now 3 weeks old and just starting to find his feet but I have noticed the front paws splay out to the side on both front legs is this where the bones are still very young or is this a problem ? mum and dad hip scores are all good and previous litter had no problems
thanks for any advice

yes, its not uncommon in small or singleton litters where pups are heavier.  you should find that his paws will begin to come in around 5weeks, and hopefully should be placed nicely in front by 6weeks :-)  Also a pup which is narrower in the chest can also display out-turned paws, in this case they tend not to place correctly.  The conformation fault of the chest follows through in the stance..

Singleton labs are not that rare, I know of quite a few, and my girl is also out of a singleton mum.. :-)

thankyou for the reply my mind is easier now never had just 1 in a litter before so I think you tend to notice more and yes he is a big pup and much heavier than normal as he is the only one mum feeds. when you have about 9 puppies top look after you don't notice the finer details at 3 weeks as they are climbing over each other
