Hi
I recently asked what vans you all had and what to get we have decided to get a Transit van, one of our friends has an 04 reg van for sale with 60,000 miles so were thrilled. It hasnt got cages built in I was just wondering what sort of price we were looking at to get cages built in.

Last year I had caging for my Vito, 2 up 2 down and slightly customised with storage at the sides above the wheel arch (in the downstairs cages wasted space any way), one full length and one just in the lower side. This resulted in 1 larger cage at the top. With really 'nice' locks with same key for all (inside and outside and costing an extra £160 over bog standard slide bolts), I think we came in just under £950. However, the person (can send details if you wish) quoted a from price of £750 for basic 2 up 2 down. That's what it would have cost me if I hadn't had them customised to my design.
It is really worthwhile, however, just checking out the sites like www.obedienceukl.com and www.agilitynet.com look under their Fleamarket. There are frequently whole van caging systems for sale. If you sell your van you're only likely to recover cost of caging if selling to another doggy person. Many folk who end up part exchanging their vans remove the cage systems to sell seperately. There are tons of Transits fitted out with caging so you may just be lucky and save a considerable amount of money.
Hope this helps.
