When I was out yest with the dogs, something landed in my hair, when I tried to get it out, it stung me, whatever it was, my head was very sore all yest, this morning behind my ear is very tender, and I have 2 lumps, also my face feels like its semi frozen ( like after the Dentist), any ideas what would help it, or let it take its course?

Given it is your head and you are now saying your whole head feels slightly numb I would definitely go to the doctor.

As freelancerukuk says it is definitely the doctor - do not get put off, insist that you are seen today, if they won't see you tell them that you will go to the local A & E.

I started getting this type of reaction to stings some years ago previously had not. Yes would deffinitly go to A and E they will probably only give you antihistaime particulaly if the problem has not go worse (I hope it hasnt) but better be safe than sorry..
I now find that if I get stung by wasps or the like the swelling and stiff feeling can last for a week or two.

HAve you taken an antihistamine? I swell badly from stings, and usually end up going to the doctors for antibiotics, but would always take an antihistamine first.

Agree with the others though, especially as it's your head and swelling could impact breathing etc, best get yourself off to the docs.

i got stung by a wasp behind my ear one autumn and as soon as i could i took an anti histamine plus bought some kind of spray that stopped the swelling and discomfort,i think it was called waspeze? but was for most insect bites/stings.

Treat yourself as you would your dog(s).........get to the doctor asap! Hope you feel better soon :)

I was badly stung by wasps as a child and spent 5 days in hospital.  Some boys from school had tried to smoke out a nest and they came out "buzzing" as I and a friend were passing.  Both of us were stung on the head, ears in and outside, mouth, eyes and any place they could get us.  If you ever see someone breaking the speed limit running across a show ground it's probaly me trying to escape from a wee wasp the size of the tip of my thumb.  :-)  They still terrify me.

poor you, kenya, hope you have got sorted out at the doctor and that you are feeling better. In the event that this happens to you again or to anyone else reading here, the advice from beekeepers is never try to get anything buzzing out of your hair...just aim yourself a smart smack on the head. If you try to extricate the bee/wasp/hornet, you are certain to get stung and with bees, the risk is that others will be along shortly to add to your trauma when they get the drift of their dead comrade's pheromones. Far better to try to kill it and you may well avoid the sting entirely. All you have to do then is make a swift exit.

A couple of years ago I heard the dreaded buzzing in my hair (I have an allergy to stings), leapt about trying to get it out of my hair while assisted by my then partner, who ended up getting stung for his trouble. My partner and I have split up and I am now a very happy beekeeper :)

oh god, i hate this subject, i am terrified of bees,wasps,butterflys and moths, well anything that flys apart from birds!! my heart rate goes through the roof, i sweat etc,if there is one in the car,thats it,i am out that car in a shot and i dont care where i am if it happens,wish there was a way to get over this fear

Im getting better but I hate moths and Daddy longlegs (Crane flies) my OH has a fit at that time of the year. He opens doors for the breeze and I shut them for the moths and DLL.

Spiders have me screaming, ok with snakes, lizards, bees, wasps ect... comes with having horrible brothers and they could send me off screeching at a tomatoe stalk under my pillow!! OH has done that as well

hahaha,little brothers ehh! i am ok with spiders,but i as well wont have the doors open in the eve as for fear of moths etc coming,seems that they know i hate them as they dive bomb me lol

Oh, how I remember this. Though it doesn't bother me now. We used to catch skinks all the time as kids. I have 2 older brothers and because of them I can't eat spaghetti ;-) I also hate daddy long legs and spiders, but bees and wasps don't bother me.

I wouldnt wack something that landed in my hair. I have strong memories as a child of sitting in sunday school listing to the vicar and felt a tickling on the back of my neck. Gave it a wack killed it and a wasp dropped on my lap.
Being a very meek and good little girl (how times change) I sat all through the service without saying a thing. Spent the next couple of days with a swollen neck and hurting. I never wack tickles any more lol 

i think my fear comes from when i was 8 years old in school, my bf was crying and i said to her "whats wrong"she pointed to her ear and i could see the bum end of a wasp in there,thats where my fear started,she was lucky not get stung

LOL Lindylou, so that's why I've never liked spaghetti!

We lived in Africa and the Middle East for a long while, and there's no getting away form lizards--a bit like rats really. Quite apart from the dropped tails, I couldn't stand it when the geckos would climb up the windows and you could see their gut coiled up like a watchspring. Not at all keen on the inside being so transparently visible--stupid really since I'm not remotely squeamish in any other way, but there's no rational basis for this loopiness.
