Got back from holiday and noticed Whistler (cocker) has lost hair around one eye looks a bit bald. Cant see any soreness but its obvious its missing (if you know what i mean? he's predonminately black) is this usual or something nasty? he isnt rubbing it, but, its the size of a 5p piece in the corner of his eye where he gets the gunk!!

All I can think of that he has either

a) mites, but usually it is both eyes and gives the dog a panda look.

b) he has been bitten by an insect

c) Ringworm

d) or he has just charged through the bushes or similar and pulled hair out.

Not a great deal of help I am afraid.

With that in mind I'll book a vet visit!!!

Cannot think of anything else!!

Took one bitch to the stud dog (many miles away and she stayed there for a couple of days), when I collected her she had bald patches round her eyes, it was lice and was where she had been rubbing her face!!

Is the skin the normal colour?

its normal colour and only one eye

usually if they have been bitten the skin looks slightly darker.

So still cannot think of anything other than mites, or he has rubbed it and rubbed hair off.
