could someone lighten me on what time (AGE!!) is the BEST time for him to become stud !! as bitch in most breeds (big/small/ kc/non kc) that roughly  reach maturity  around age 2yrs . yet it seems ok (not all !!) to use dog/s as young as 9 mths stud then surely we all know they are not matured so why dos this seem ok!! please this is not (dig) just thinking why not wait until the dog is at full maturity.

I would think there would have to be a very very good reason to use a dog this young. Most people would not consider using a dog until he had proven himself in the show ring or on the field. In my 1st breed dogs are often not used until they 4 or 5 when they are mature and start doing well in the ring. Also in the vast majority of breeds dogs should at least be hip scored (not before a year old).

I can think of one example of a responsible breeder using a young dog. This breeder had a bitch on loan from abroad for a limited time to bring in new bloodlines. The dog they wanted to use died so they used his son at 11 months, however this was not a breed that requires hip scoring.

There are quite a few discussion on here covering this, one was only a few weeks ago.
