Our puppy is 7 weeks old and still with his Mum at the moment. I heard from our breeder today, who told me she had taken him to the vet because he was making such a mess when eating she thought there may be something wrong with him. The vet gave him a complete clean bill of health, but watched him eat and said that it was very unusual and thought that he hadn't mentally switched of his suckling action whilst eating and he was also kneading with his paws, thus making a complete mess every where and not eating as much as he should. apart from this he is interacting with all the ohter pups and there are no other worries at all.
Has anyone ever heard of this before?

Samantha, don't want to be alarmist, and I'm sure your vet would have picked it up, but I know of a puppy with a conditioncalled megaoesophagus that behaved in a simailar way at that age. (Happily it is now doing very well). Perhaps you should ask for some more investigations or a second opinion before taking on the pup?
