Hi,

Just hoping that some of the experienced breeders on here could give me the benefit of their experience.

I have a bitch who is due to whelp at the end of this week. This is her second litter and my sixth.

I would like to ask if anyone could give me any advice on cutting the cord myself.Ihave never done this before and always left it to the bitch but last litter she was a tad rough resulting in one puppy having quite a bleed. All was fine but it was a scary moment!

I have forceps and scissors, just wondering if there are any 'do's and don'ts' anyone can think of.

Just to add,Sire and Dam all health tested including DNA testing and homes awaiting. Thanks in advance.

I would use clamps or at least have them handy you can ge tthem from http://www.fitandfertile.com/shop/whelping/navel-clamp.html

I also think there is a post running at the moment on a similar topic.
