Topic Dog Boards / General / New addition but what ?

We have after long discussions decided to get another Lab but are undecided on what.
Min is 12yrs old and Moose is 1yr old.
Do you think it is wise for us to go for another girl who is older than Moose say three upwards or go for a puppy? Moose has really calmed down now but we think that a puppy might not be such a good idea as Moose is still a puppy herself and it might end up a bit too much to handle. With an older girl she will have gone past the puppy stage and should prove to be a good companion for both of the girls. Min is still a very active girl and is still coming out on all the walks we go for at the moment but I can see that she will inevitably start to slow down and I want to make sure Moose has a companion that will keep up with her and keep her occupied when Min starts to need the peace and quiet in her later years.
Any advice would be gratefully received

Personally I would go for the middle ground. I would go for a dog between four and six maybe seven. This way the dog will not be to boisterous for Min but will be active enough to be a companion for Moose now and in the coming years, a dog of that age may also help Moose calm down further.
