My rotty bitch pup is 9 months old and as far as I can see is showing no signs of having her 1st season but my male (castrated) is showing some interest in her.  My other bitch (now spayed) had two seasons of which he did nothing atall.  Even at her most fertile, she would back upto him and he walked away and got his tuggy! LOL. Do you think he is telling me something I can't see, she is due to have her elbow displasia op on tues, if she is on the cusp of her 1st season I think it would be a good idea to tell the vet, am I worrying about something that doesn't need worrying about.  Maybe its the hormones, mine and hers! LOL

There is always the possibility of a urinary infection. Dogs become very interested then. They confuse the smell with a bitch in season. Of course your bitch could just be pre-seasonal ;-) They do start getting interesting a week or so before they actually come in properly.

Yes, I suppose with her age she could well be just about too. There is no reason that an artho op would not be done if she is in season is there?

My male was right, came down this morning and whilst led on her back having a tummy rub I noticed a small pinkish discharge.  He let me know in advance that her season was near.
