2 new breeds for me - a Corgi, which unless I've gone completely mad don't have anything you need trimming do they?(apart from nails!) And a mini l/h daxie, they wanted him cut really short as he's black and suffers with the heat, but I think I've almost persuaded them clipping will make him worse unless he's got a neutered super-fluffy coat, which they say not. But I assume I can use the Coat King in case of any dead undercoat or anything that can be stripped out?

Neither breed should need clipping and removing the coat as you say is not a good idea.

Well that's what I thought - they said just a bath for the Corgi, just wanted to check there wasn't anything that was trimmed for show and therefore I never see it! :-p And for the Daxie just a Coat King and shorten the feathering then?

Not sure about the corgi in the ring but the dachshund should be untrimmed although I suspect may be 'tided'. As this is a cross I think your common sense as a groom would tell you what is needed but I would have though a good comb through to the skin and then a bath would be all that is required for a happy health dog apart from perhaps a trim of the nails and any over grown feathering.

OH dear, don't think this is a cross but two dogs, in which case Dachs has a soft straight or nearly straight coat with feathers and the Corgi a double coat may be dense particularity if neutered and not well cared for.

Regarding the corgi. For the show ring nails must be very short and the hair between the pads is trimmed as well as the feet to give a nice shape. HTH.

Sorry, confused the issue slightly! They aren't being done for show, it's just that I haven't seen corgis anywhere else! :-p So just wanted to check there was no unexpectedly long hair anywhere that I wouldn't see because I don't see pet corgis! And yes, I think for the daxie a trim of feathering and Coat King if the coat is thick should be fine. Thanks!
