Sadly we have such beaurocracy here in the UK with regard to licenced drugs, that it will be a long time before it would be approved for use hereI actually think it is a good thing that it takes a while for any drug to be licensed here in the UK. It does prevent the legal sale of many medicines from dubious sources and there are a huge number of those that are freely available in other parts of the world but have not had all the necessary tests needed to study long term effects.
But if it works, and there are no side effects or problems with itThat is why the drugs take a long time to license here - trials have to be run to see if long term effects or cumulative ones are worse than the disease they are meant to protect against. I personally would rather wait for all the testing to be done and accept that this will take years to do than run the risk of the cure being worse than the disease.
My OH was involved with the trialling of a drug for cancer - in some cancers it was proven to slow down the growth rate of tumours but in his particular case it was found that although it did slow down the growth rate in some areas it was unable to act upon tumours that developed in the brain. As the drug had some very difficult side effects it was decided that that particular drug was only suitable for some types of cancer because not all areas could be accessed by the drug and the side effects suffered were just as detrimental as the disease it was hoping to alleviate.
