Hi.

I have a 17 week old golden retriever puppy who is fed 400grams of Symply large breed puppy food split into 3 meals per day.  She appears to be doing very well on it,but I was wondering if anybody knows of a puppy weight chart so I know that her weight is ok?  She is currently 13.4kgs.

Our vet had a weight chart in his office it had a picture of the breed and a weight/ age graph, to be honest if the puppy looks healthy is playing and eating I wouldn't worry too much.

Some breed books also have graphs.

Hi and welcome

I'm very close to several of the people who had puppies from the same litter as my youngest, and we used to compare notes.  I was often surprised at how much difference there was between the amounts of food they needed and the different weights they were at the same age.

I suppose what I'm trying to say is that there is no 'standard'.  Judging correct weight by hand and eye is the most effective method and you gradually get more confident at it.  In the meantime can you arrange a visit with the breeder to get their opinion?  Nothing compares to a hands-on approach and it will be useful to get the advice of someone who knows the breed and has lots of experience.  They should be able to teach you what to look for and may also be able to put you in touch with some of the other owners for reassurance - if only to give you a range of weights :)
