I would appreciate some advice on what to start weaning my 2 1/2 wk old LB pups onto first. Mum has done agreat job but over the last day or so has become reluctant to feed them , most pups weight just over 3 lbs so are doing ok but are not gaining what they were.
I have had so much advice on what their first taste of food should be , ranging from puppy porridge ,baby rice pudding ,  mince , carnation milk , weetabix (surely not! ) or just soaked puppy kibble. Do i soak with water or pup milk (they have never had this before either)?
I appreciate that they are still very young and don't want to upset their tums , any advice greatly received.

Different breeders have different ideas.

I use pedigree puppy porridge (large breed)- others may not agree.   I was always told that they get enough milk from mum, I mix the puppy porrididge with cooled boiled water.   Whatever method or products you choose, stick to it, do not chop and change as that is what causes upset tummies in little pups.

I start mine of on a taste of scraped beef - take a piece of steak and scrape the flat side with a serrated knife to get a pulp. A teaspoonful of that on the first day gets them mad for food!

I like the idea of the scraped beef  , how long do i do this for before i start to introduce kibble?

Our pups start off on Weetabix soaked in warm Goats Milk so it's kinda sloppy. Once we know they can tolerate that, we go on to scrambled eggs. Then it's onto Puppy Kibble soaked & spun in the blender. They have the same diet until they leave us at 8 weeks, it just changes consistency as they get bigger :)

I would do the same as Little green re the goats milk puppy formula, but certainly would not give weetabix (with it's sugar and salt content) but soaked puppy kibble.

The puppy porridge of various brands is basically powdered milk and puppy food, so a ready made version of the above.

I don't give  ien meat until 4 weeks,b tu that if because I give the minced packs for canines which are a bit coarse for -pups or whoel chicken wings etc.

Mine ahve never liekd scrambled eggs as weanlings so i stopped giving it until fully weaned as part of their variety meal (1 of their 4 meals each day ocne well into weaning from 4 weeks).

Mine liked goats milk, but wouldn't eat anything mushed up and milky like scrambled egg, puppy porridge, weetabix, etc. They wouldn't eat minced chicken or beef either. In the end they decided to eat small bite sized chunks of chicken or beef, and then gradually decided to eat kibble too, though again they refused it when I soaked it to soften it!
