Topic Dog Boards / Health / muscular contracture in hind legs

Please can anyone let me know if they have experienced this with any of their dogs. I have a 2.5 year old GSD female - she developed a strange gait on one hind leg. It has now been diagnosed by Royal Vet College Hospital as Muscular Contrature - they admit it is v rare and have no first hand experience of it. Need to know if possible advice on what to do and not to do with young and lively dog. If there are any known non surgical treatments - and how fast this may develop.
They are suggesting Hydratherapy and physio - which is fine - but a chat with someone who has gone through this would help me a lot.
She is a much loved pet who does no sports (schutzhund/ agility etc) but is very fast and loves running after balls and frisbees etc.
Many thanks
ruthh
