We have bitten the bullet and Whistler has his anal glands removed on 12th. Keep your fingers crossed for a speedy recovery, Im sleepless about it already and felt less bad about having the kids tonsills out!!

Finn (our vet) says he will take his time and can see no real problem's and it will sort him out once and for all poor pup!!(well he's three!) but I'll be worried until Ive got him home again that evening.

I'm sure he'll be fine but I wish him well anyway :-) ... and hugs to you too... I sometimes think the operations that are planned are more worrying than the ones that are an emergency... You have more time to spend worrying. He'll feel so much better once they are done xxx

Thanks he really has turned into my new baby!! and he never lets on what I tell him, I would be devestated if anything went wrong.

Fingers crossed here for you!

Stitch had his anal glands removed about 18 monthsago - I can safely say it was the best decision we've ever made for him. It's not right for everyone, I know, but for us it was the right choice as we had exhausted other avenues.

Stitch's recovery time was surprisingly short, he was back home with us the night of the op (he had the op early in the morning), still a little dozy but otherwise OK and over the next few days he did look a bit 'bruised baboon' around his back end, but healed up remarkably quickly, and thankfully, with no infections afterwards, which apparently aren't uncommon.

Hope it all goes well.

Claire
