Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Stud lost interest in bitch
- By Suzzypoo [gb] Date 21.03.10 15:43 UTC
We have a twice proven stud and a maiden bitch, she is on day 11 and yesterday she stood for the Stud and accepted him but moved. She has done this 4 times resulting in 4 slip matings where the stud has tied outside her, due to her wafting her tail as they were about to produce a tie.
They were interested in each other this morning but this afternoon, nothing ?
Should we wait ?
Is there a possibility she isnt quite ready ?
Could she be pregnant from the slip matings ?
What would you advise ?

Someone should have held her tail to one side.

We were holding her tail to the side but the stud seemed to lose interest when there was too much intervention.

After the first time she did this I would have had someone hold the pair in place until the tie was established, before letting the dog try to turn.

I think you have probably missed it now, and can only hope that there may have been enough time in the short time of the slips for sperm to get where it needed to be.

How long did the slips last?

Do you mean how long was the stud out of his sheaf ? He was thrusting quite hard for a good few minutes.

'Sheath'.

Now, not being to graphic how long was he in the bitch while thrusting.  Generally if ti was less than a minute he may not have ejaculated.

he was in the bitch a good few minutes whilst thrusting, he locked just as she wagged her tail and knocked him out the way.

That's some tail to knock him out the way, LOL

I would say that sounds as if there was time for him to make a meaningful deposit.

He is smaller than her so was struggling to hit target to begin with IYSWIM. She is wondering round whimpering and pining for him now that he is gone. Do you think I have missed the boat here ?

Barbara - you say these things with such decorum.  :-)

I left a mesage on sunday about the stud not being interested in my girl anymore. We left it a few days because we came to the conclusion that she just wasnt quite ready. I took her today (day14) and they had a few (quite a lot actually) slip matings. We came to the conclusion that he just wasnt hitting the spot because he was 2-3 inches smaller than her. Anyway once he started vigoriously thrusting we really pushed his bum up so he got right close and they have eventually tied.
Thankyou to everyone who answered friday, here comes the fun lol.
