Here is a chance to state your views on the defra consultation on dangerous dogs

http://www.defra.gov.uk/corporate/consult/dangerous-dogs/

There is an online questionnaire in the link I posted. i think its important people answer it and do so in a rational manner
There are lots of questions involving microchipping, dog control orders and whether MORE BREEDS should be added to the DDA. It worries me that they even ask that question.

Given that people who have suffered from incidents involving aggressive dogs have also been asked to reply it is important we all identify that it is an OWNER problem and NOT a breed problem.
Anyone involved in rescue should also take part as they ask about whether you feel there are financial implications if there are to be any changes to the DDA/Dog Control Orders etc which of course there will be if dogs are suddenly surrended because owners cannot afford the compulsory microchip and insurance costs

Compulory insurance may mean that insurers can charge what they like as owners will be forced to take insurance out
Same could possibly said for microchipping
Adding breeds to the DDA is worri=ying given that the DDA was a knee jerk reaction and doesnt work anyway. After all any numpties using dogs as a status symbol will surely be drawn to the illicit breeds?
Plus the consultation asks whether Dog Control Orders should also apply to private property and not just public places
