Hi i have a 23 month old GSD X Collie.
He nibbles my clothing as he walks to heel?
Anyone any idea why he does this?

I've no idea why he's doing it sorry - my dog nibbles my jumpers I always presumed it was attention seeking, he doesn't do it so much now (he's 2yrs) but when he was younger it was a daily thing.

I trained a collie cross in obedience years ago who nibbled my bum constantly during heelwork and I was told not to stop her. It hurt!
Anyway I think it was an excitement thing as about a year old she stopped and was glued to my side happilly.
I have a wee Papillon now who likes to nudge my leg in a similar way (no teeth) at random points in the house. I then look down and get a tail wag so I think it's her way of saying hi

maybe its a collie thing, my 2 year old nibbles other dogs when she is playing with them and her cousin does the same.

My Dobes do it when playing as well, so don't think it's just Collies.

My crossbreed (Chow X Rottie) is is a nibbler.  He lies beside me on the sofa and nibbles at my fingernails.  He's ever so gentle but not the most professional of manicurists :-D  He'll also nibble at our legs to get attention.

Ahh, bless him :)

Buster is a nibbler, he likes to nibble toes, socks and legs, basically anything in reach when he's laying at your feet. He does get a little carried away sometimes when nibbling socks, if he gets a good grip he'll pull it off and chuck it around like a trophey :-D (while laying down of course as he's soooo lazy)

Oh, he also nibbles the cats fur  it looks bad to see such a big dog with his chops nibbling away at the cat, but he's very gentle. Trying to get him out of the habbit of nibbling the cat but it's hard as she'll sometimes get cross with him, which he thinks is great fun. If shes acting all 'prim & proper' she'll ignore him, so it's easy to get him to stop & do something else instead.

I'm sure it's an attention seeking thing - how can you ignore being nibbled on!
