Cried watching last nights twice, once when the girl with the baby with his bowel outside held him for the first time and also watching the water birth as it was just so like my two. Couldn't be filmed for tv myself but thoroughly engrossed in watching it, although didn't enjoy the partial resus of the baby boy...

I got myself quite angry at one of the husbands . His wife was having a natural birth following a previous c section.
I was so annoyned when he started ranting at her because the labour wasn't going fast enough for him.
He should think himself lucky his wife was so calm , if it were me he spoke to like that when I was in labour I'd of knocked him out!!
Cani1, I so agree with you. I only caught bits of it last night as I was doing other things, however the husband irritated me and I also thought the midwife was condescending.
Did anyone else find themselves "pushing" :)
My mum panted her way through last nights programme :-)
I would love to be filmed. I think it would be a great keepsake to remember the moment your son/daughter came into the world. It doesnt matter that the woman doesnt look her best, she is doing the most extraordinary thing a woman can and should be embraced and celebrated.

I was also furious at that husband, what an a**e!

I so wouldn't be filmed !
Infact when I had my son who is now six I was all over the place with my hormones and wouldn't let my family video him when he was born.
I haven't got a clue why I was like this as I would of loved to have these memories of him in hospital on video.
I have warned my family if I have anymore children to just ignore me and take recordings of the baby . ( My sister said she'd be frightened to as I was soo evil last time! )
I find it facinating as i've yet to go through it myself but certainly wouldn't want to be filmed!
One of the vets at work had her 2 year old daughter present at her 2nd child's birth and i find that so odd, i can't imagine what would go through a young child's mind seeing her mum in so much pain!

I would not want to be filmed at all. whan my youndest was born ( now 8 years old ) my 19 year old ( at the time) Daughter was with us in the delivery room ( but only stayed at the top end lol) but it is the best form of contraception ever ha ha
> Its not something you tend to forget lol
No :-) but people say you forget lots about it (especially if its a long labour) and would be nice for the son/daughter to see their own birth.
My friend can remember watching his sister born in the front room when he was about 4/5. He came from a family orintated family and it was the norm for kids to be present at mums birth, just like years ago. (His mum said to him would you like to come and meet your new sister after she had just given burth, my friend said no he just wanted to carry on with his colouring :-) )
I have been surprised while watching the last 3 programmes at how useless the men have been!!! The guy last night gave his wife no support and was actually having a go at her. Last week the older man who had their teenage son with him while his wife gave birth was also a complete twonk. He just sat there (in his suit??!!) giving her no support.I dont think the men appreciate the pain and ordeal the women are going through. They just seem to sit there waiting for the baby to appear and not really caring about the run up to it
My friend has asked me to be her birthing partner when she has her baby in july. I am taking the role really seriously and want to do as much research to find out how i can make things better for her.

Me too. My son was born by enmergency Caesarian, and I needed a GA because the epidural didn't work, so I missed the entire thing. A film of it would be lovely!

I went with my friend when she had her 2nd child as hubby had an asthma attack during the birth of their first, funnily enough she said he was a lot better 2nd time around. Didn't have the heart to tell her I told him I would make sure there'd never be another if he didn't stop being a baby about it - she screams oh god I want to die he's like no no no please no - I'm erm yeah she does just rub her back and let her say it, it will pass when baby arrives. Have to confess to breathing through every contraction with her and at one point screaming in her face to pick her rear up off the bed as babies head was out!
Last nights reminded me of my 6th and last birth, my girls now understand why their mother was single by the time youngest was 3 wks old and stayed that way for the last 22 yrs!

Ive not watched them yet although i have them all recorded i just dont seem to remember theyre on.When i had my first i had a 52 hour labour and then they done an emergency c section.i swore if i had anymore i wasnt going to be cheated out of the natural birth this time.cos i had pushed brandon all the way down but one more and his neck would have snapped so c section for me.
anyways having lauren i was thinking oh god why on earth did i say i wanted to do this this way.
i had no pain relief just pure oxegen.
dunno why just didnt really want it,dont get me wrong hurt like hell but i remember thinking kep a clear head and this baby will come quicker.was so worried.with my third and final i had gas and air and a supporting man with me.i have to say blood and illness and women in pain he doesnt do very well but he was a diamond all the way through.got me my cold flannel whe i ask for it and got the hell away from me when i told him to too.lol lol lol
i just wish he'd have been there first time round.i done the others alone.

Thankfully the baby with the bowel outside went on to make a full recovery. I found the unhelpful husband VERY annoying.
My friend's OH complained about his back aching as he had a hard chair to sit on in the delivery room! I'm on tenterhooks myself as another friend had a girl today by c-sect, just cant wait to speak to her!
