I've just heard that Jason Wood ( comedian ) has been found dead.

I can't believe it he was just too young.

I don't know if many people know of him but I watched him on the Underdog show a couple of year ago and thought he was lovely.
He had always been scared of dogs but agreed to do the show to raise awareness of dogs in rescue.
On meeting Jim the greyhound there was an instant spark and the two were a right pair , I remember Jason running round daft after Jim who wouldn't do the courses some weeks , it was very entertaining seeing Jim running round happy after being in kennels so long!
Jason adopted him after the show had finished and used to take Jim on tour with him.
I do hope Jim does'nt end up in rescue again.

juat googled who he was. Such a shame. 38 is so young.
Never understand what it means when they say 'Died in his sleep. No suspicious circumstances' - so does that mean he had underlying health problems that they were aware was terminal? or did he take his own life (ie they found a bottle of pills beside his bed when they found him) ??????

Sudden Death Syndrome - SDS (http://www.c-r-y.org.uk/sudden_death_syndrome.htm)

Sudden Death Syndrome (SDS) is an umbrella term used for the many different causes of cardiac arrest in young people. CRY provides medical information on the most common causes of unexpected sudden cardiac death in the young (aged 35 and under). These conditions include thickening or abnormal structure of the heart muscle and irregularities of the electrical impulses that upset the natural rhythm of the heart.  Sudden Death Syndrome events are defined as non-traumatic, non-violent, unexpected occurrences resulting from cardiac arrest within as little as six hours of previously witnessed normal health.  It is often difficult to consider that someone who is apparently young and fit may be at risk. There have been a number of reported incidents of misdiagnosis culminating in a tragedy that could have been avoided. Sporty youngsters stress their hearts the most. If they have an underlying cardiac abnormality they are more likely to be at risk. Sport itself does not lead to cardiac arrest but it can act as a trigger for a young person to die suddenly, by exacerbating an undetected condition.  In the UK, unexplained "sudden death" is frequently recorded as due to natural causes. Experts believe that most of these deaths are due to Sudden Death Syndrome. Until the law is changed and coroners have to refer hearts on to specialists we will not know the true figures.

I unfortunately know a couple of people who have lost loved ones dues to this.  It's very sad.

it is incredibly sad. presumably a post mortem would be carried out to diagnose this?

OMG I remember him in that show and thought he was lovely unlike others who were only there for themselves!  Isn't it weird how many people who die of SDS seem to be quite slim and look fit and healthy?  Is it just me that's noticed this?
